I just read that famed tenor, Luciano Pavoratti (sp?) has moved on. One of the greats of all time. The heavenly choir just got sweeter.

I wasn't big into opera either until I was dragged to one for a friend's 40th birthday - "Carmen" by the SF Opera. Sex, violence, betrayal, intrigue, redemption....all acted and sung before you while being staged spectacularly and with incredible live music. I was converted immediately. RIP Luciano - what a gift you had.

Love or hate opera, ya gotta respect his abilities and endurance. Myself, I am a huge opera fan. I even studied it in college. I think my interest had a lot to do with him, since he was pivotal in keeping this art form alive and bringing it to a mass audience. RIP Pavarotti...

The funeral for Pavarotti will be held in his hometown of Modena on Saturday and will be broadcast live. Presumably in widescreen version only.

Was in Italy last week when this happened and it domentated all broadcast/ conversation. RIP Luciano. Hearing his great voice doing Nessun Dorma always brings tears to my eyes.
