Randy,
That's great! I think we should all do that. So when someone pulls up ABB they just get a bunch of us telling them the same thing. .

Congrats to Randy! Please share the nasty e-mails you might get from the rip-off artists...so we can laugh at 'em.

Aww . . . y'all are making me blush . . . I graciously accept the offer of a free show, though (PM coming soon).

And Linnie, so long as your check clears, you will only get positive feedback from me (and my eleven other ebay accounts - jk).

You don't want me for President, though. I'd head over to the Middle East with a few tankers of Sam Adams, a bunch of strippers (female and male, of course-their women are far too repressed), some of ODR's crop, and a couple of jam bands and restart the peace talks.

That rules!! As someone who bought their first live shows from EBay, I know that I would have loved to of come across this auction before forking over $20 for the Zakk Wylde show. I still got some great music, but you know what makes great music even better? When it's free.

droog,

I saw somebody do a similar auction a few years ago regarding ABB shows. Don't know how successful it was, but it was rather hilarious seeing the auction. Have you had people e-mail you about it?

One terminology I've come across while swapping shows is... "liberated bootleg" as a source for the show. Done this quite a few times while trading.

Randy, that's fantastic! A worthwhile public service.

Also very zenlike...what is the price of nothingness?

Finsky . . . a few weeks back, I emailed a high bidder and gave him the scoop, and his response was very weird. He said, basically, that he was going to buy this show and then "liberate" it to the trading community. He seemed so excited about pulling one over on the bootleggers that I didn't have the heart to pursue the matter.

The "liberation" (odd terminolgy. was the show oppressed? ) of shows happens all the time, so it's kinda puzzling on what the person was all giddy about.

Well, there are ALWAYS people that are willing to pay up, no matter what.

I just took a look at that "auction" again and I'm confused about something...

Why are people from this site bidding on it? Isn't the idea to scorn the thought of money for bootlegs? I do understand that Randy would never demand payment and will give good buyer's ratings to the people bidding, but it does seem to defeat the purpose of trying to educate the uninitiated that the music they normally bid on is supposed to be free. Am I wrong?

I was kind of wondering about that myself. I guess I kind of viewed the bids as an "I support this gesture" gesture. Or something.

There ARE many, many people who would just as soon buy these shows as trade for them. In fact, they would prefer to buy them. Don't know why, but it is easier for them and more convenient, or something...They must have more money than sense.
