9/3/77 Grateful Dead/Marshall Tucker Band/New Riders of The Purple Sage

http://www.dead101.com/etown/etown.htm

The Dead's set is a Dick's Picks. The other bands' sets circulate as audience recordings. Part of the NRPS set is Sbd or FM.

Cool......this was my first Dead show as well. I was a ripe 15 years old, and a bit overwhelmed by the large crowd. Me and my buddies had a blast though. Lots-o-smoke and drink. I saw one dude freak out on acid. He started yelling "LSD25" over and over for a while. But this soon escalated to him taking his clothes off and eventually his buddies wrapping him up in a rug or something and carrying him off. Scared the s**t out of me. Though I soon dosed at other Dead shows What an experience, and thanks for the reminder.

Three great bands...and I love the admission cost on the ticket!

This is a great DP choice, in my opinion.

I guess I should call my cousin and wish him and his wife a Happy Anniversary, although it still pisses me off that I had to miss that show because they decided to have their wedding that day.Oh well,at least they're still together.

FYI you can stream the whole show at Sugarmegs, archive.org took it down as it's a commercial release/ Dicks Pick.

It was hot and crowded! It was also one of my first Dead shows. I hitchhiked from Brooklyn to get there; now I live within walking distance to Raceway Park.

I was there. Got lucky, had a small car that squeezed in close to the enterance. It was a typical hot hazy Jersey summer day. The show was good even though you couldn't see much unless you stood close to the stage. I think it was over a hundred thousand people there. The guys next to us had snuck a keg in under a fence. The girl I went with thought I was nuts when I opened our cooler and I had about 10 pounds of green grapes. They were great when your mouth got dried out. Was trading them all day for stuff. All in all a good show and fun to listen to now.

My dad was at this show, and would always tell me stories about how great of a time it was. When the dick's picks came out I bought it for him without him knowing and he was thrilled. His favorite story from that day was walking into the show, and there were some guys selling watermellons out of thier truck. He jumped up in the back of it and started tossing watermellons to everyone around there, and took a few for himself and went into the show. Said he just parked in some random person's front yard cause there were some cars in it already and had to walk what seemed like miles to get there.

I could give a good guess...............

Hillbilly Band
Another Cruel Love
Take the Highway
Cant you see
You Aint Foolin Me
BlueRidge Mtn Skies
Ramblin
Everyday
24 hours at a time.

This is only a guess. They played a pretty consistent setlist when they opened for another band during this time period. Tommy had died the year before.
