I have only minimal information, and it's kinda old, but I guess it's better than nothing. In the early 80's I was living in L.A. and renting a house with a friend of mine who was in a relationship with an ex-girlfriend of Rod's. Rod was involved with Jeannette when she was only about 17, and you could certainly see why..........she was nothing but just drop dead GORGEOUS. She was about 21 when I knew her. She said that musical differences was the reason Purple had let him go. She knew nothing of Captain Beyond...........I played her the entire first record and she was quite blown away by it.........."maybe I should get back together with him." Of course, I think she was joking around about that. She said that he had become an x-ray technician, but of course this is 25 year old information. Jeannette got around quite a bit and she broke my friend Dave's heart in a big way.........he caught her over at an ex-boyfriend's place.

I also read once on-line that Rod Evans was involved with a somewhat bogus Deep Purple reunion tour, in which he was the only true ex-Deep Purple member. I don't know the time frame but I am guessing 20 years ago or so. Among the dates they did was Long Beach Arena in L.A. and Mexico City. The write-up I read said that it was so hokey that one of the band members wielded a chain saw onstage. According to this article they were routinely booed off the stage, and had tomatoes thrown at them in Mexico. Deep Purple later sued and won to keep Evans from using the Deep Purple name. As far as what ever became of Evans after that, I have no idea, but I think there have been some also not very successful Captain Beyond reunion attempts. Some on-line research on that would probably turn up more. My bet is that he's been out of the music biz for a lot of years now.

Not much but here it is.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rod_Evans

A friend of mine told me that he saw him in Vermont a few times. So I guess that part may be true.

I did the Wikipedia thing as well. It will tell you that the "Deep Purple" reunion occurred in 1980 and that the resulting lawsuit prevents Evans from collecting ANY royalties from Purple's first three records.............kinda sad for him, as "Hush" has received significant airplay over the years. The links at the bottom of the page will give you more info on this bogus "reunion" tour. Even wikipedia has no info on Evans' current whereabouts.
