some will argue for the chuck/lamar era, some will go with dickey/warren and a the brave few will go with toler/betts, but this is the best lineup for the live version of jessica:

The Dixie Dwegs do a great job on "Jessica". It' on the "Cawifornia Skweamin album. Why are we talking like this?"

Nice but I beg to differ: version played 3/31 Beacon flew even higher than the one with Chuck at Tweeter in '05 while The Brothers took it apart and put it back together at Meadowbrook just last week....then there's the one from SPAC in June '73 coupled with "Les Brers" (and think about this: what a great tribute the band pays to Dickey, recent history aside, when they do justice and then some to his tunes?!)

I'm sure it will be blasphemy to some, but my favorite version doesn't include the author. It is 3/23/01 Beacon Theatre version, featuring the newly formed Derek/Warren lineup with special guest Mr. Chuck Leavell. 16 minutes of bliss. While the 2nd half of the tune doesn't spray as much sunshine as it does w/Dickey (it's more linear but makes up for in creativity), the first half did shine. The spacey middle part is nearly a song itself...some of the best insturmental improv since 71 IMHO....it is a wonderful. Derek doesn't take a traditional solo but might be the unsung rhtyhm / fill mvp of the tune.

Listening to Chuck rip up a 3-4 minute solo right now. Mtn Jam from 3/25/01 with DT/WH/CL up next....

F**k me you people are arrogant! I really enjoyed that. Some guys (regardless of where theyare from, what does that matter? with a great love for the music) Why would you denigrate that?

Stop trying to be politically correct for the sake of being politically correct. I have found that the people that get angry at things like these are the ones who have to try and prove that they are above other people because they secretly know that they aren't.

Don't take things so seriously brother.

I'm with you. And there's nothing PC about it. Everybody wants to make wisecracks (Monty Python was switching their Ls and Rs 35 years ago), but no one will comment on the quality of the performance, which I think is marvelous. They're having fun playing a great tune that we all love.

Freaking round eyes...

Okay, I only just now actually watched the clip. Very nice job on the tune, but someone should teach the cameraman how to indenify the READ GUITAR PLAYER!
