He's Gone

I'm sad he's gone, but happy for all the joy and music he brought to so many of our ears and hearts.

What a sad day it was...
I live in Italy and I am so glad that I had the chance to fly twice to the Usa to se the Dead play Giants Stadium in 1992 and Soldier Fields in 1994.
Jerry was, is and will be a true giant of modern music.

Very well put Neil and I know what you mean about the childhood part. When Jerry left us it was pretty shocking for The Deadheads - we sort of felt like those days wiould never leave us, but when they did, the realization hit pretty hard. A big part of our youth was gone in a flash. It was like, "what do we do now?"...Sometimes we forget how good we have it here with THe ABB, someday all this will be gone for good. We like to say, "The Road goes on Forever', until the day its gone for good....

Peace always...

"Somebody has to do something, and it's just incredibly pathetic that it has to be us".

I still have the paper. This is the Boston Herald August 10th, 1995

Magazines

Now I was in the Tower Records at the top of Newbury Street in Boston just hanging around when someone came in and told us Jerry had died. We ran across to a bar to see the news had the story. We went back to Tower Records and started a candle light vigil. This candle light vigil made it into PEOPLE magazine.

We were at Jones Beach when we got the word. Saddest sound that I ever heard.

Well, I actually got the news earlier in the day, but I was at the show that night and you could definetly feel the sadness in the air that night. It was a very moving show including a very good set by Rusted Root. They dedicated the song 'Back To The Earth' to Jerry.

We'll see and hear him again. After we're punished at the festival at the Mount of Olives, we will see them all again.

I am sitting back watching The View from the Vault IV DVD - Shoreline June 16, 1990. The opening song says it all, Let The Good Times Roll.

I sure do miss Jerry!!!! Thank God for all the memories!!!!!

Played some Jerry in my Classroom today, big smile when folks entered the room today.

The wind inside and the wind outside
tangled in the window blind
Tell me why you treat me so unkind.........

All the years combine
they melt into a dream
A broken angel sings
from a guitar
In the end there's just a song
comes crying like the wind
through all the broken dreams
and vanished years

Yeah....I was there that night as well. Had heard the sad news earlier in the day at work. As sad as a day as it was, going to see the ABB that night sure made it a little easier to handle. I am listening to a sweet show from the Paladium in NYC from '77 on Sirius......very sweet

Also, I was just making a copy of the 8-9-95 JB show to send out to a friend. This was something I had planned to burn a few weeks ago, but coincidentally burned it just this evening.
