I'm in search of a few suggestions as to what not to miss and where to stay in the Tampa area. I'll have my two youngest children with me so they have to be kid friendly suggestions. I'll only be there for about 24 hours before heading to Mermaid Camp at Weeki Wachee in Spring Hill then onto Disney. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hope you're all having a great day!

BUSCH GARDENS !!!!!

When I went to Florida with my kids aged 10 & 12 (10 years ago) they thought Busch Gardens was better than Disney, Universal Studios and Sea World ... great combination of Zoo and fun fair

What's the name of the area with all the restaurants? Ibor City? Might be something there the little girl would like.

Hey Beacon/PNC buddy.
While near Weekie Wachie, check out Tarpon Springs - there is some sponge diving, manatee sightings, good greek food - great bakeries.

Some of you ought to spare us before you post such god awful pictures. Geez, that sort of image could stay with a person. It's like that picture of that girl's ass that was trying to swallow that motorcycle. EWWWW. Please, you are scaring my inner child who is now hiding behind my liver.

That's true Jacquie. Tarpon Springs has great Greek food. There's a decent place in the main square off to the left.

Have a GREAT time.

Oh that sounds great! I'm thinking about Clearwater Beach and/or Siesta Key for Thursday into Friday. Once we are in Weeki Wachee, Tarpon Springs sounds awesome. Definitely want to hit the Gulf of Mexico to see all of the Dolphins before going to Disney.

Thank you one and all. I'll keep taking suggestions up until Thursday morning. Soooo, if you have any more, please lay them on.

Hey foppa!!! Will you be making it to PNC this year?

If you like a good steak and are able to splurge go to Berns Steakhouse. You will have a great meal in a classic restaurant.

The sponge divers wear the old school cast helmets with the full suits. Not sure if there is an opportunity to do it ala cart.

Not able to make PNC. Did make it to the two opening shows @ Rama,Ontario.
That was my person Beacon/Wanee this year. No Red Rocks and already tied up for Labor Day weekend. Gotta be selective when you live in Colorado. You lucky East Coasters get all the shows.

Spend the money to get out on the Water - check the web to get details on the Red Tide which affects the beach. This is the time of year when it afftects the beaches - hit or miss.

Theres a gorgeous state park beach just south of Tampa thats really cool. Playgrounds for the kids and the like, soft sand, and a killer sunset.

Thank you again to all who made suggestions. I just got off the phone with Luke who has really steered me in the right direction.

I've decided to go to Clear Water Beach and get a hotel room. The kids and I will watch the sunset and go to the beach the next day. After the beach we'll pack up and head to Tarpon Springs for a few hours then settle in at Weeki Wachee for the rest of the weekend until Mermaid Camp is finished. Then onto Disney...sure hope I'm not too beat to make it to the Bushkill show....nah, I'd never be too beat to see my Brothers....or sisters for that matter!

Thank you again everyone!!

You could always go sit a spell with LUKE and he could cook you some hand-slappin-cornbread-stuffin-momma-hide-the-car-keys-BBQ. Then you could take a ride on his screamin night hog.
