PLUS...
1)The first CDs were out 15 mins. after the end of the show, and the rest got out very quickly
2)The pauses between the songs are cuts unto themselves (at least from what I can see so far) so that they don't have to be added when downloaded on to my iPod
Minus...
1)The CDs came in just an envelope/sleeve. No tri-fold "case" like the IL.
2)There is no info. (track names...CD name...) imbedded onto the CD, so that has to be entered manually, when loading into iTunes/iPod.
3)Some of the breaiks aren't in the best spots

Just some intitial thoughts. Feel free to add yours.

I too was impressed by the speed at which they got these discs out, and I was also disappointed with the lack of a true "CD" case. At least the paper sleeves have dividers in them for the seperate discs...

One thing I will say that the sound quality of the MM discs are far, far superior to the hack job that IL can sometimes do...and I guess in the long run that's what its all about!

I'll bet the copies you buy after the fact will be packaged nicely. Hows the sound?
I want the crispy, well mixed shows, in my cd player.

Hittin' the Note will have disc cases and artwork as well as setlist printed on the CDs. Some shows may be remastered, some may not. We should have the Rama, Canada shows shipped to us as early as next week!

The good folks at Munck really care about the fans and worked hard to get these out right after the show. With the recording fees at each venue there is not a lot of profit margin so please don't copy these CDs - buy them instead so that this effort continues. As you may know, Instant Live went out of business because they couldn't make any money at it...so PLEASE don't copy these disc for your friends - ask them to support this cause! Off soap box now...

Take Care,

JNB

JNB, so the Rama shows were recorded for sure and will be available through hittin the note?

Yesterday, my husband tried to pre order the shows from your office but the person he was speaking with on the phone would not take the order, saying that he did not think the shows were recorded.

So if we phone your office in the next few days, will everyone be on the same page and accept our pre order for the two Rama shows?

I talked with Jaimoe for a few minutes before the show in Gilford, NH last night and he said that the sound quality of the MunkMix was vastley superior to Instant Live. He sais these folks were really taking a lot of care with their product. I told him that I thought Instant Live was great and he said I would love these. I haven't listened to last nights show yet, but Jaimoe should know.

Sorry for the confusion...but there is a happy ending. The shows were recorded, but not sold at the venue. Hittin' the Note expects to have them in stock late next week!

Enjoy!

Joe,
Regarding the Rama shows, the dates played were 7/31 and 8/1. However, the HTN site lists the new live recordings as 8/1 and 8/2. I'm assuming the 7/31 would be the 8/1 and the 8/1 would be 8/2? Confusing I know...but just want to be sure I order the right discs....Thanks.

Dave

The second Rama show seems short, at least by the set stand point. Was this a shorter show than the others or just extra jamming?

By the way...love the new covers for these discs!!!

They played a short drum solo Tues. night and a longer one Wed. night. The Wed. show did not seem short to me.

So then its pretty much worth it not to buy these discs at the shows. If we're patient, we not only get a CD case and artwork, but a shot at a remaster. All for the same price? Makes me feel like kicking myself for going through the trouble at the show.

One of the best ways to ensure we buy 'em is to keep sellin' 'em! The only Instant Live CD I obtained illegally was the 8/20/04 Meadowbrook show, which is the only one I am not currently able to purchase directly. And even though I have my illegal copy, if HTN put it up for official sale tomorrow I would buy it immediately.

I'll take you up on that! And we will do it to help raise money for the Bill Ector Medical Fund.

Hittin' the Note will offer the few Gilford shows we have left from 2004 (maybe 15?) exclusively to the guestbook. I won't even put it on the HTN website unless we don't sell out. These originally were only available if you got the complete summer set.

Hittin' the Note will offer these to the guestbook for $30.00 (includes shipping). To order, please make check payable to the "Bill Ector Medical Fund" and send to the address below. Please put a note in the envelope with your return address and mention this offer (I get a lot of mail). Please also PM me to let me know that you are sending a check and I will let ya'll know when we are sold out.

Attn:Joe Bell
Hittin' the Note, BEMF

Sandy Springs, GA 30350

Thanks for helping!

i was disappointed by the munchmix CDs i got in Gilford, yes they were fast, but what i got home to was very poor.
almost no left channel for the whole show and even less during the drums.

the tracking was also way off on most of the tracks starting a couple notes into the song.

trying to listen to it on the way home i was forced to use the balance to get anything out of the left channel at all.

while i had a couple problems with the Instant Lives i got at shows, i don't think Munchmix is set up to do the while you wait CDs and should stick to the mail it out once they get the mix and tracking right.

i'm not saying i won't buy the ones i'm at, but i might pay for the delivery and let them fix the recordings and not have to play with them in in wavelab to get them listenable.

i was very disappointed with the ones i walked away with from Gilford.

I heard this discussed at the tent last night. I'll ask them how they are going to handle it. These are good folks and I'm sure they will treat you right. I'll post back on this once I have tlaked with them.

i think waiting for them to be delivered might be the thing to do. i think for the other groups they did the after show pickup was never an option.

thanks for the speedy reply Joe.

I'm glad it's not just me. I also received a crappy CD at Meadowbrook the other night. And, to boot, I only got disks one & two, with no third disk. A friend of mine who also bought the show received all three (crappy) disks. By crappy I mean no left channel, levels rising and falling, and no packaging. I assume this is an isolated incident, since on this board there are good reviews of Munkmix generally, both as a recorder/ seller and as 'good folks'. I would assume that such a good company would be making strides to replace my $25 mostly unlistenable recording with a decent one? An email I sent the other day from the web site listed on the disk (abblive.com) has yet to be returned, but it's only been a day or two.
Anyone have any info on this?
Thanks!
jusdubbin

FOLLOW-UP - I received an email from Munckmix stating that they are remixing the show and will be replacing my set with a new set when they are ready. Way to go!

I too experienced the same poor quality CD's, with the rising and falling levels, virtually no left channel, and Greg's voice at times barely audible. Also, is this an audience recording or an aud/sb matrix? If it's a straight aud, I'd like my money back please. I can hear talking and yelling throughout the recording.

I do like the plastic jewel case that the JazzFest set came in better than the Instant Live packaging, the latter type being relatively easy to crush or harm. But I guess I like the Instant Live packaging better than I would a paper envelope after the show. The plastic jewel case used for JazzFest isn't the hard plastic type that easily crack either - they are the soft plastic like DVD's come in that are crush-resistant, but they are sized the same as traditional jewel cases so they fit nicely on a media shelf or a case-logic thing with slots. I like that a lot.

More importantly, JazzFest sounds killer.
