You can eat 'em in good health. They'll only grow if they get enough fertilizer.

I was a seeder for 3 or 4 years.
Favorites were Frito Lay ( seem to be plumper) and David brands.

They are a tradition when me and my sons take long trips. Don't know how it got started. Only down side for me is the salt but they wouldn't be the same without it. We call em "spits". Never heard anyone else use that term so it may just be a redneck south Ga term.

I’m trying to become addicted to sunflower seeds, for the last 20 years I’ve been addicted to Copenhagen snuff.

I know, it’s nasty stuff, but it’s truly my only vice.

It’s the biggest regret of my life and wish I could quit.

Ugggghhh….

I find Fried Pork Rinds to be an excellent snack. They are so light that you actually lose weight eating them. Better stores will have them in BBQ flavor as well. Outstanding for endurance activities.

Don't be so hard on yourself, it's not like those black poppy seeds!

I used to have stashes of David sunflower seeds hidden everywhere. In my boat, truck, work vehicle, closet, behind the commode...

I like to bust the bag open and then douse them suckers with Tabasco! Yum!

I love 'em, I need 'em, can't live without 'em no! Aug. 4th will make one year for me without any type of tobacco products! I dipped skoal for 25 years and smoked on and off through that period as well. Sunflower seeds helped me through it. Now I only eat one big handful of seeds every night when I take my lab for a walk. It took a while to slow down to a once a day ration!

I wonder if you can deep fry them like they do peanuts around here in NC. When they deep fry peanuts you can eat shell and all. Then you wouldnt have to spit out the hulls. Talk about fiber.

Ruff Ruff Ruffage my friend............actually the shells on deep fried peanuts crunch up just like the peanuts. They are good. Just dont take them fishing, bad luck.

I was driving down 17-92 outside of Lake Alfred,FL last week and some guy had a stand beside the road.
His sign said "BOLD PEANUTS." Must be like a can of courage or something?

I've seen many rednecks down here in the booger bushes of south Ga eat the peanut shell and all and not after frying it. Regular roasted/salted in the shell. Course theys a lot we hicks down here do that ain't quite normal. :p

I love goobers, raw, boiled, fried, roasted or chocolate covered. There are many benefits we get from the peanut that a lot of folks never think about. Many that work very well for medicinal purposes and we're still researchin. IMO, peanut oil is the best oil to cook, (deep fry) with but a little costly.

Remember, the peanut is not a true nut. it's a legune. <---- did I spell that right?

A couple of years ago I was at work wanting to get a bag of peanuts out of the vending machine, but it was out. So someone said "get the sunflower seeds". I said "Um...sorry, but I dont eat birdseed." They said they are really good, so I took a chance and bought the seeds.

Put some in and chewed for a bit and...couldnt believe it! They were wonderful! Now I sometimes get the seeds even when the peanuts are available.
