Howdy all,

Just registered on web site. Always was an ABB fan, but didn't like the way Dickey was let go. Kind of boycotting the new lineup. Listened to them for the first time yesterday, and I was very impressed. Seems like there moving to the future with a fresh sound. Has anyone else experienced this as well?
Downloaded a couple of tunes may be pretty good for running.

You'll take care-"the road goes on forever"

Welcome, DWCowboy! I too am an ABB fan from way back. Have seen the band with all original members and many incarnations over the years up to the current line-up. Love what they are doing today with Derek and Warren and love all the other satellite bands that are interwoven here: ABB, Gregg Allman and Friends, DerekTrucksBand, Govt Mule, Oteil and the Peacemakers, and Dickey's band, Dickey Bett's Great Southern (who happen to be touring right now and have been getting some good reviews). Hope you get a chance to listen to each of these bands! Nice 'meeting' you!

DBcowboy, first of all, WELCOME!!

I understand how you feel about how Betts was faxed out of the band, but look at it this way. At the time it happened in 2001, had the others not taken a stand and made the move, The Allman Brothers Band most likely would have ceased to exist. I'm sure it wasn't easy for the others to make the decision, but it had to be done to save the band. Right or wrong, it happened, and the ABB is still making great music and playing great shows. Dickey has bounced back with Great Southern, and now, we get to follow two bands around! No one here on this website will discount Dickey's contributions to the ABB catalog and legacy. Hell, he's still a part of the ABB corporation as president, if I recall correctly.

Anyway, welcome to the famABBly. Be sure to check out Dickey's Great Southern website, which is linked at the top of the page. Have a nice weekend.
