last evening I was digging through the vinyl and came across "Harder Faster" by April Wine
I hadn't listened to them for YEARS... I tried to remember a band members name w/out loolking on the cover/sleeve and couldn't. Anyone else ever liked a band from yesteryear and had troulble remembering who played with them. Also ,anyone else enjoy April Wine ? I enjoyed the album alot. Good vocals, songs, all together good performance.

They play here almost weekly it seems. Knew a couple of them and have met the others a few times over the years. The lineup changed slightly over the years.

Harder Faster Lineup
Myles Goodwyn - Vocals, guitar
Jerry Mercer - drums
Steve Lang - Bass
Brian Greenway - Guitar
Gary Moffat - Guitar

"First Glance" was my fave by them.:

1. Hot on the Wheels of Love
2. Get Ready for Love
3. Rock & Roll Is a Vicious Game
4. Right Down to It
5. Roller
6. Comin' Right Down on Top of Me
7. I'm Alive
8. Let Yourself Go
9. Silver Dollar

Loved the song "Silver Dollar"

I will always remember seeing them...they played at The Agora Ballroom in Atlanta.

To promote it...The Agora had 5 cent wine night...the only problem was...the wine was warm Chablis...and it was pretty warm in Agora. I was standing right in the middle of the front row...wasted....everybody was..on that damn cheap wine..LOL !

I do remember the show though....they rocked !

I use to own "Harder Faster" on LP but I don't know what happened to it. I still own "Nature Of The Beast", "Just between you and me" I think NOTB was their best album!

In another thread, buried deep within the confines of AG, I wrote about seeing April Wine with Donnie Iris and Nazareth sometime in 1979. DI opened, Nazerath was the headliner, but AW stole the show. I have Harder, Faster and At First Glance, and I think I also have Nature of the Beast. One of my old bands from like 1989 used to do a cover of "All Over Town." AW did a KILLER version of "21st Century Schizoid Man." Honestly, before reading the members' names mentioned earlier, I could have recalled Jerry Mercer (because he was one of the first dudes I ever noticed in rock with a shaved head) and Myles Goodwyn because he was the main front man. But I also recall guitarist Brain Greenway's name. On the song "Roller," they had a cool three guitar lead break where they'd swap off these rolling licks. Sweet stuff from a long time ago.

I also had Harder/Faster. Saw them back up Rush at the Aragon in Chicago - had to be in about 1978.....

The one I have just says "April Wine", it's on Big Tree (2012) and is dated 1972.
This might differ from the Canadian release. The cover is sort of purple with
four pictures of the band members and "April Wine" at the top.

The first one is the one with the feet on the cover? I'll look for a copy on ebay.

April Wine are probably the only band to have the Stones open for them in the 70s. The Stones played under a false name so that they could play a club.

One side of "Love You Live" was recorded that night. I always wished the Stones would release the whole show.

April Wine also released an album from that night. Live At The El Mocambo released in 1977.

Yea, that's the album, but it does not say "On Record" anywhere, just "April Wine" and
has a different cover than I've seen for "On Record". Do the songs have a little bit
of instrumental music between the tracks?

Is has this cover

I saw April Wine on thier " The Whole World's Goin' Crazy " tour in 1976 , they had a giant Mad Hatter dude like on the cover , its head moving side to side swinging its watch back and forth , as a young kid I was very impressed .
The warm up act that night was Heart , who went on to major success .
