George, I know you fear nothing now , old friend. When you get to that place we all hope to go, please one favor. Have Toy and Tommy there and save a place for all of us who love you and the music so much.
God Bless

Prayers for George and all who love him. Put on a little Marshall Tucker when I saw the thread. Sometimes I forget how good they were

Oh my.

Oh my gosh. This is the strangest thing. As I was clicking my way into the site just moments ago I had a very discernable sense that something was very wrong. I actually thought to myself..."I think someone has died".

Its not that, but obviously similar.

Very very sorry to hear of this. A huge HUGE bummer for me, as the MTB was a very close 2nd regarding the "southern rock" groups back in the 70's, right after the ABB. What great music and memories those early MTB albums provided. Barring a miracle we are losing one more of the foundational "1st generation" musicians of this great form of music.

Prayers are extended to George's family during this time, as it is of course much more than just a musical connection for them.

This really stinks....

I just went over and checked out Georges web-site again. I've never seen anyone do this before, but its something.

I'm going to post a link to Georges guestbook. The 1st 3 or 4 or so are the most recent, and George didnt rerspond to them. Maybe that was when he took a bad turn or something, I dont know. But after the 1st 3 or so George...up until that time...had been personally responding to EVERY SINGLE MESSAGE in his guest book.

Scroll through...you'll see. The way that site works is George can go into the post and embed his response into each post. I kept scrolling back several pages and he responded to every single post.

Never seen an artist do that before. It sure says a lot about Mr. George McCorkle.

There's entirely too much of this sort of thing going on lately.

God Bless you George. Thanks for all the great music. Say hello to Tommy and Toy for us once you reach the other side.

Tough news -- tried sending a message to the link posted above but it came back.
Much P&L to Mr. McCorkle -- can still see him now, strumming away on that guitar -- George could well be the finest rhythm guitarist any band has ever had.
Thank you for everything George -- my heart goes out to you & your family
