I got one of these babies for Father's Day. It allows you to record vinyl or cassette directly into your computer, edit, enhance, reduce noise etc, and then burn to cd. So far I am very pleased with the results. This works great! The software is very easy to use & the sound quality is excellent. Has anyone else tried one of these?

I still have the Kenwood I bought in 1978. Hooked up through
a pre-amp and then into my computer.

What brand is it?

I'd love to get one as I have a couple LP's and NO PLAYER!!!

Will the USB turntable just play them as well, are there any other outputs on it?

It is an "Ion". It cost about $110 from Amazon. It's mostly plastic, but seems solid enough. It will last long enough for me to convert all my albums to cd. I recommend it.

You can also output it to a receiver & use it as a standard turntable.

I have my Technics in the living room.

One of these days I may get that audio card with the jacks and start transferring vinyl.

Yeah, right.

Right. After I edit and convert all of my VHS family videos to DVD, edit and transfer all of my 8mm digital family films onto DVD, put the photographs from the 90's into photo albums, then I will start transferring vinyl records to the computer. Not happening.

I'm taking all my photos to WalMart and have them put on disc first.

I still have my early 80's Pioneer turntable. I have a few albums I'd like to transfer to digital, but not ALL of them!

I have a turn table with cassette and 8 track tapes....yikes .... thats OLD.... but ya know I put in an 8 track tape Eat A Peach.. after about 30yrs.... plays great....
Out of all my vinyl albums and not hearing them for just as many yrs.. I picked Grinderswitch to listen to..... Brought back lots of fond memories... I sorta like all the hisses and bumps on the vinyl..and the sound of the needle touching it.... it's where I begin.

i dunno know maybe one day I'll change them over.. we'll see .. the technology is outta of the park , today...

I have a Stanton STR-8 turntable with a S/PDIF digital output, It also has input for mp3 players.

I have used it to convert lps to digital. Although I used the analog outputs (has its own preamp)
into my audiomedia III PCI card as the audiomedia has better A/D circuits.

Soundsoap is a great application for cleaning the pops and clicks from old records.

My daughter calls it the "push table" but at least she knows what it's for.

Take one of those plastic center hold fillers for 45s and show it to a kid
nowadays and ask them what it is. You'll get some interesting answers.

If there's a chance of finding it, here's where I'd start the hunt for an old stylus: http://www.needledoctor.com/
