Hey all, just curious if anyone on here has ever foillowed an ABB tour for an extended period of time. My real question for anyone who has would be, how did you finance it? I think it would be cool to maybe follow a band for a while some day, but I'm trying to figure out how much such ventures generally cost (assuming one is living very cheaply.) Any advice?

You'll need a Rand McNally Road Atlas

east coast version should suffice.

How's your cooking? The Deadheads used to sell the most wonderful veggie burritos to finance their way, along w/ other wares, legal and otherwise. Would not recommend becoming a falafel (feelawful) vendor though.

In 1996 I leased a tourbus with driver and split the cost 12 ways. We saw 6 shows in 8 days and it was an unforgettable experience.

We got to park our bus backstage with the ABB buses and before the week was up, all the members of the band had come on board to say hello. Warren and Woody even rode one leg with us!

Then on the very last part of the tour one of the ABB buses broke down and the entire complement of riders switched to our bus and we doubled up for the last hundred miles.

I have always wanted to do that.

This summer 25 shows (so far)

25 x 2 people = 50 tickets

2 tickets for Charlotte plus fees charges : 121.60

$121.60 x 25 shows = $3040.00

Motel Rooms : estimate 25 shows, at least 25 nights, est 35 nights @ 75.00

75.00 x 35 = $ 2625.00

Travel and Gas

Fiqure you would fly to 12 shows and drive to the other 13

332.00 a ticket x 2 people

$664.00 x 12 shows 7968.00

Est 400 miles to and from each show. x13 shows = 5200 miles
5200 divided by a car that gets 18 miles to a gal. = 289 gallons

289 x 2.95 a gallon = 853 dollars

So Far:
Tickets...........3040.00
Motels............2625.00
Airline.............7968.00
Auto Gas..........850.00

Total ............14,483.00 very weak estimate.........

Thats with no food or incidentals or car rentals........................
Hell I would sit my ass on the beach for a month with an Ipod before I would spend all that.
Mounts up quick doesnt it.......

LMAO...........this will be different for everyone. It would 8-10 beers (12oz.) for me.
10 x 6 = 60 bucks for me.
3 X 6 = 18 bucks for Susie.

78 bucks x 25 shows = 1950.00 per tour.

Previous estimate : 14,483.00
Plus Beers...............1950.00

Revised estimate $16,433.00
