I saw your topic about my father, (BUTCH TRIVETTE) and just wanted to say...

DISHWATER OR NOT, all you have to do is type his name in to any search bar on the internet, to see that he was no musical slouch himself, not to mention a heck of a nice guy!

I happen to love my father with all my heart.

So you can all kiss my ass.

Sincerely,
Nicole TRIVETTE

is this it?: Buppalo1 - 3/28/2007 at 02:34 PM

We relived a great old Sonny and Brownie story after work yesterday.....Tinsley Ellis makes me tell this sometimes.

Many years ago, the Talladega race weekends were a big deal here. Our old hippy bar, the Buffalo, would always have a big cookout and a good band. In 1980, the band was the Alley Cats from Atlanta. After the bar closed, everyone migrated to a friend's house to party until time to load up and head to the race. So, the Alley Cats show up, all following their leader, Butch Trivette through the back door. Trivette walks up to the home's owner, tells him he's been trying to teach some obscure new music to the band, would it be OK to put on a cassette? Now, what's the guy supposed to do? He says, "Sure."

Now, the dynamics of the Alley Cats at the time were that Trivette was maybe 10 years older than the rest. He was a tough old cajun, maybe 35, road warrior. And they (Tinsley, Preston Hubbard, Albie Scholl) were kids. So, in order to put a tape in the guy's deck, you had to get down on floor level under the TV. Trivette puts on his "obscure" tape. It's a Sonny and Brownie tape that everyone in the room owned. So, before he could get up off the floor, everybody in the room, maybe 30 folks, is singing along to the obscure music.

So Trivette goes into pout mode. Goes into the kitchen. Couple of my friends join him, try to get him to lighten up. Finally, Jimmy Walker tells him if he doesn't lighten up, join the fun, his head is going into the dishwater right behind them. After Trivette follows up with a string of expletives, Mr. Walker proves true to his word. Mr. Trivette soon left with his obscure music and a head full of dirty dishwater, scoring no points with his boys.

btw, Mr. Walker will be flying up to the Beacon with Rusty and Donna and myself.

Yes, that's it.

My dad worked very hard at his music, and did a lot of things that many people would never get the chance to do in life. He's accomplished A LOT!

Now I'm not gonna sit here & cry about it coz that's just not my style.

But my dad is very sick right now, and to see people making fun of him on the internet would break his heart.

For his sake, I hope he never sees this.

It might be funny to you, but it wasn't too cute on my end.

Nikki, so sorry to hear that your dad is sick. I wish him the best. I don't think any offense was intended by that post. Please don't take it that way. Please check in here and let us know how you and Butch are doing. Thanks, Bob

Thank you Bob.

I'll admit I'm a little quick tempered sometimes, and maybe it was all in good fun, and I just took it the wrong way.

If so-I sincerely apologize.

I just don't want my dad's feelings hurt.

He's a nice guy! :-)

I wish you all the best for you and your dad Nikki, I was merely trying to find out why you were so upset, I'm sure nobody meant any harm. If it's support and prayer you need you came to the right place. Some of the finest people on earth are on this site. As Lana sez" Take care and know that you are loved"

Thank you very much, and please accept my apologies for my first post.

I was just upset. I know Pop's no where NEAR perfect, & I'm going to hear and read things about him that I didn't know before.

But I wouldn't want him KNOWING that I know these things-because it would embarrass him.

When you love someone, you don't want them embarrassed.

That's all :-)

With that being said, I hope we can just pretend like it never happened.

Coz I think The Allman Brothers are WAY COOL! ;-)

Hello Nikki,

We are all true music folks here and I can assure you that we all have the utmost respect for musicians here and that would certainly include your Dad.

I'm sure anyone reading that story would interpret it as musicians being human just like the rest of us...

I'm sorry to hear that your father is ill and I certainly hope nothing but the best for both of you.

Take care,

Andrew

P.S. And if you like the ABB, this is the place to be. Please feel free to stick around....

Hi there...i echo what everyone has said.

That, plus something about Buppalo (Randy) - Randy is the nicest, sincerest, old soul around and you can be certain he wouldn't have posted anything about your dad if he thought it would end up upsetting or hurting anyone....

Again, welcome here!

Well I must admit, I feel rather sheepish now.

After going back & reading the dish-water story about a dozen times, I realized that when it comes right down to it, it is a rather amusing story, and I can so see Pop doing something like that.

And when I really took the time to think about it... if I had to learn something new about him, it's really more of an honor than anything else, to hear it on an ABB site.

(I mean if ya gotta get your head dunked in dirty dish water, it might as well be by someone IMPORTANT huh?)

But unfortunately, by the time I reached this conclusion, I'd already made a total ass of myself.

(heh...I am my father's daughter!)

So in an "obscure" attempt to redeem myself, I'd just like to say that the ABB is the very reason I ran across that thread in the first place...

Those guys are like GODS to me, and I've admired them for many moons now. I grew up listening to them, I have their albums lining the walls of my home, and I'm the ebay seller's DREAM when it comes to buying Allman memorabilia. I LOVE THOSE GUYS!!

So in retrospect, my coming on here and making a complete jack ass out of myself ON THE ABB SITE (of all places!) is comparative to getting really drunk and making an ass of myself in front of a room full of old friends...

Hmmm...

I can't imagine who I learned such OBSCURE behavior from?

I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree huh?

Anyway, it's cool now, and I realize it wasn't meant to hurt anyone's feelings. Sorry about being so sensitive before, and I hope y'all won't mind if I still hang out with you.

It's just that I'm really proud of my Pop, & I was just speaking up on his behalf, coz (even though he has been known to embarass himself on several occassions) he's still a damned decent musician and a really cool dude.

(Dirty dish water head, and all!)
