Hi brothers and sisters, it's been a while since stopped in to this forum and I hope you are all happy and well. Late last year, I put out the request for some band name ideas for an Allman Brothers tribute band I was forming. We got a lot of feedback and Kirk West contacted me and gave me his blessing to move forward with this tribute to the greatest band in the land. So, we settled on "One Way Out". While it's not an actual song written by the ABB, they made it their own and it seemed fitting considering we couldn't find any other tributes currently going by this name. We have a new website at http://onewayoutband.bravehost.com and are working on a new My Space page. We don't have any music posted yet but there are a few pics and a guestbook for you to sign and let us know you stopped by. We are currently based out of the Seattle area, which is helpful because the ABB don't get up here very often and there are a lot of hungry fans here in the GNW. We have a killer lineup with veteran musicians and are playing our first live show on June 16th opening up for Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band Whiskey Creek at the Royal Bear in Algona/Pacific, Washington. We actually found a keyboard player who sings, which is no easy task, and plays the hell out of his B3 and have 2 guitars, bass, drums. We will be adding a percussion player soon. If anyone is in the Seattle area, please look us up or give me a hollar and we'll hook up. The band email is onewayoutband@hotmail.com . Looking forward to seeing you sometime!

Be sure and let us know when you have a music link on your web-site so we can hear samples.

Good luck!

Hoo -
Are you the same OWO that played a couple of gigs in Denver recently at the Oriental Thtr? Opened for Shakedown Street and played Quixotes after a Mule show? I think the lead gutair is also in the Motet.

Oh yeah, our drummer Brad Turner is pro all the way...Brad has been playing in bands for over 30 years....as have the rest of us.....we are all lifelong jamband players and we have a great musical chemistry together. Brad and Richard, the bassplayer, have been jamming together for over 30 years and are a killer rhythm section. Steve Thorpe on Keys/lead vocals has been jamming in bands for the same amount of time and it shows. Charles, the other guitarist, and I have been in touring bands for over 25 years. We have shared the bill with Ted Nugent, Molly Hatchet, BOC, Southern Rock Allstars, Rick Derringer, Foghat, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Grand Funk Railroad, Black Oak Arkansas, Dr. John, Savoy Brown, Iron Butterfly, Steppin' Wolf, Little Feat, Pat Travers, Elvin Bishop, Randy Hanson, Edgar Winter, Night Ranger and many, many more artists. No, we're not hacks.....

Wow.

Mr. Hoo.

This sounds terrific...........medium rare with "seasoning".

have a band myself and we are doing some ABB tunes - not a tribute that's for sure > too limiting for me and we do not have the players you do.

playing Dreams, Black Hearted Woman, E-Reed, Mtn Jam, High Falls, and Hot 'Lanta > W- Post has given us a thrill.

great great tribute you got going.

"play all night".

Thanks Lang, looking forward to many great jams starting this Sat night. We won't be heading to Denver out of respect for the other band with the same name, though....wouldn't be right...cheers! Hoohead

I hope you guys can conjure the same spirit of improvisation the ABB had, kind of like the Mahavishnu tribute that plays the tunes with alot of improv, with thier interpretation of how MO would have done it. I really look forward to hearing your guy's stuff!

Hey friends, been away a while rehearsing our tribute to the greatest band in the land and we are up and running. Played our first show on June 16th with Skynyrd tribute band Whiskey Creek and had a blast. There are some real ABB fans here in the GNW. If you get a chance, please check out our website at http://onewayoutband.bravehost.com/

We are currently rehearsing and bringing in more songs weekly, including originals. Will have some music posted on the website sometime around July 14th if all goes well. Happy 4th of July everybody! Eat lotsa peaches and keep a grin!

Current ABB Tribute setlist is:
Ain't Wastin' Time No More
In Memory of Elizabeth Reed
You Don't Love Me
Hot'Lanta
Whipping Post
Dreams
Don't Keep Me Wonderin'
Firing Line
Don't Want You No More
It's Not My Cross To Bear
Good Clean Fun

Hi friends, stopping in to get caught up on all things ABB...wish they would hit Seattle again...it's been way too long! Just a quick update on our ABB Tribute band One Way Out in Seattle, we had to replace one of our guitarists in the band due to time conflicts with rehearsals and shows. We have been busy auditioning a lot of guitarists to fill the Dickey part and should have the new guy on board by next week. Then we will have some tunes uploaded to the website. We expect to be gigging for the next couple of months and will be taking a break while vacationing in Ireland at the end of September. Hope you are all doing well and staying cool this summer! If you get out to Seattle, let's hook up for a beer or two.....you can contact me through our band website at http://onewayoutband.bravehost.com

Have a good one and always try to keep a grin! Brian

Hi Matt, we play a lot of different styles of music but when doing a tribute, it is always best to concentrate on the band you are paying tribute to for at least 2 sets. If we play a 3 set show, we will do music from other bands that fit the genre for the folks who are there to hear us. We will also throw in an original or two...things is, the promoters bill you as a tribute and some venues, like the casino's and larger clubs, want you to stick to what you are hired to play....at least, that's how it is around here....thanks! Brian
