My magic 8 ball says it's likely you will meet Warren. Get your plan together now for what you will say or ask him. When I met him I was like the deer in the headlights, frozen. Don't let that happen to you! Good luck.

I was lucky enough to meet not only Warren Haynes but Allan Woody as well. On August 30, 1996 my Girlfriend and I attended the ABB show at Hospitality Point in San Diego... After an appropriate amount of Pre-Concert attitude adjustment, we approached the yellow jackets at the entrance to the Venue and prepared ourselves for the traditional "Patting Down"... You know. Upon entering and strolling past the beer and T-Shirt vendors, Shari noticed that there was a contest that entitled the "Winner" a chance to Meet the Allman Brothers band. Not being the lucky sort, just noticing the contest was enough for me, but Shari just had to stop and fill out an entry wtih My name on it. "What are you doing?... Let's get to our seats, You'll never win"... "Hold on there Cowboy" she replied. "Your B-day was 5 days ago, I bought these tickets, You... are a HUGE Allman fan, what's it gonna hurt"?...bla,bla,bla, So we find our seats, drop off our jackets, grab a couple of beers and begin the before show mingling ritual. To shorten this saga, Great show, great venue, great Buzz....Well, the show ends, we're gathering our stuff up to leave and I hear my name announced over the P.A. system. At this point, the fact that there had been a contest couldn't have been further from our thoughts. "Oh Sh*t, what did we do"?.. So we amble up to the table and ask the guy at the Mic why my name might have been called. "Are you Vince"?..he asked.."I've been called that"... I said. "Got any ID"?.... "Why" I replied... "Well, it's pretty simple, You get to meet the Band"... Shari couldn't stop laughing... " What are you wasting your time with that contest for"? she mimicked "You'll NEVER win that".. she continued. (At that Moment I remember closing my eyes and wishing for a Big Roll of Duct Tape). So we follow this guy Backstage to a Group of trailers where Warren and Allan are standing drinking a Cold Beer... "Guys"... he called out.. "this is Vince and Shari, she entered his name and He won"..Well, I'm 6'3".... and my first thought was.. Jesus are these guys short... I don't really remember much about what was spoken about other than they were both so nice and eager to talk about the show and the set list. After about 10 minutes of that and further Music talk, (I play Guitar because of Duane) I asked where the rest of the band was. "They are just beat up"... said Warren, "But you got to talk with us" Allan chimed in... That made us all chuckle. I invited the whole Band to the Restaurant where I was working for some Burgers, But they didn't show... Still an Incredible experience none the less. No camera, But I still have the "After Show Only" sticker that was part of My "gift package"...from the Band... Cool Memory from the "Hang in there, you'll get to meet him" school of thought!

Very cool story. I bet you don't hesitate any more to fill out those contest slips.

As he talked to me & my 3 Bud's,it did'nt take long for a crowd to gather...Warren is DA MAN !

Warren is pretty high profile. I met him out in the plaza area of the amphitheater before a show in 2001, I think it was. He was being driven around in a golf cart, and he stopped to say hello to some fans. He was nice enough to sign my stub, which was cool. I've seen him out riding around before and after shows a few times since then. Matt can also be seen signing autographs at the merch tents after shows.

I briefly met him outside in the parking lot at Charlotte when they were doing the Mule Van mini sets. He is a class act, as we all know. Very approachable.

I was in the front row at the Mule show at Proctor's Theater last year. While MULE was setting up, I tried to request a song to Warren's assistant..the dude that looks like Warren. (Souther Man/duet with Grace Potter) Everyone around just laughed at me for asking.
Anyway, I didn't meet Warren that time but his assistant walked over a while later with the set list. A few people tried to take it but he made sure everyone knew it was for me. Maybe he wanted me to know that set list was already SET. LOL.

My .02.......when it happens, don't act like a tourist. Don't tell him your life story, go on and on about what a fan you are. They've already heard it. Be polite, respectful, maybe ask a question, move on. Thank him for the show, or give best wishes for the evening's performance, if it's before a show.

And give us a full report!
