i used to have a pretty cool thread that got archived about one of my new favorite bands, WIDESPREAD PANIC.

well, with their new tour coming up, and their return to Philly July 17th, i figured i'd start another one!

The Philly show at the Tower will no doubt be great, (i'm 5th row center YAY)...

I know Panic isn't for everyone, but with the additon of Jimmy Herring (former ABB memeber), we have a family connection now!

so who loves Panic? i do i do!

The sun came out the other day
Through those dusty clouds
And in my mind I was a child
And it felt good!

Ain't life grand?

My little brother is an insect
He likes to crawl around his room
His mother shudders at the sight of him
His pappy is a businessman

Every move he makes is torture
He cannot speak words anymore
Our sister likes to flip him on his back
And watch little brother squirm

I really like the way you look in
Your imitation leather shoes
And I don't wanna fake it anymore

Saw Panic alot from 1991 - 1997. Saw them again in 1998 & 1999 and then had a pretty long break until 2006.

Saw one of my best ever WSP shows w/Jimmy Herring on 12/30/06 and I will be seeing them every time through Atlanta now that Jimmy is in the band. A perfect fit for his talents.

I'm a pretty avid listener of them.

Can't say I know their catelogue word for word, but I listen to them pretty regularly.

Finally going to get a chance to see them as they don't come to upstate NY all that much. It happens they're playing where the 1969 Woodstock was hosted - Bethel, NY. They built a very nice amphitheatre. It'll make for a nice summer roadtrip.

Huuuge Jimmy fan too, so that's going to be worth the price of admission as is.

I got ya covered. Picked up really good seats for all 3 shows in the pre-sale.

Looking forward to seeing them with Jimmy. Last year it was the guitar tech but they were still awesome.

I dig Panic alot. I first heard Space Wrangler on cassette that a housemate had back in 1991, then I got a chance to see them play a thanksgiving show at the Fox in Atlanta. Seen them about 11 or 12 times since then. However, I have not seen any shows since Mikey Houser passed. Now that Herring is on board, I'd like to catch them again.

I might have posted this in another thread awhile back, but here is a cool video snippet from 1994...

I've heard a few of their songs, and they sort of remind me of Phish.

Love WSP!!!!!
My favorite band after ABB.
Love Jimmy Herring but I miss Michael Houser-R.I.P.
Michael would Just Rip It Up on "Chilly Water", evertime!

Not Hearing the Phish comparison at all. But I'm not a big fan of Phish.

I suppose I'm a little prejudiced about Panic. I especially like Mercy and Rock and Hatfield.
