my blockbuster online Q is becoming a bit barren.....does anyone have any suggestions for some good movies?

generally speaking i enjoy off-the-beaten path indie flicks....dark comedies or spiritual stories.

any suggestions would be great!

When it comes out on DVD, I highly recommend "Wild Hogs." It was hilarious!

I watched "The Jacket" the other night. I liked it. That might meet your criteria.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0366627/

Another possibility that I was just discussing with someone the other day is "May." Very, very weird.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0303361/

One of my all-time favorite skull-effers is "Memento." I think that was a bit more mainstream than the other two, so you may have seen that one.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0209144/

There are a few.

I loved the independent film "Unknown"

Five men wake up in a locked-down warehouse, none of them able to remember how they got there or even who they are. They soon realize that they were all part of a kidnapping - without having the slightest idea of which side they were on.

I just rented Little Children. Great movie. Kind of dark but some pretty funny moments too. Notes on a Scandal was good also. I've been getting The Wire from Blockbuster Online, great HBO series about the Baltimore PD. You'll be hooked

Linnie did you ever see William S Burroughs (author) movie "Naked Lunch"? Now that is a trippy movie.

Story
Bill Lee (Peter Weller) wants to write, but he exterminates bugs to pay the bills. His wife, Joan (Judy Davis), becomes addicted to Bill's bug powder dust, and soon he joins her in a world of unorthodox hallucinogens; he visits the kindly yet sinister Dr. Benway (Roy Scheider) and walks away with his first dose of the black meat -- a narcotic made from the flesh of the giant aquatic Brazilian centipede. Soon, monstrous beetles are whispering conspiracy theories in Bill's ears and his nebbish writer friends Hank (Nicholas Campbell) and Martin (Michael Zelniker) are sleeping with Joan under his nose. When a party trick involving a liquor glass and a gun goes awry, killing Joan, Bill flees to Interzone, a Mediterranean city full of talking insectoid typewriters, double agents, offbeat aesthetes, and plots within plots. As he navigates this paranoid landscape, Bill begins ingesting another drug called mugwump jism and writes fragments that Hank and Martin soon assemble into a novel under the title Naked Lunch.

LOL - ANYTHING having to do with William S. Burroughs is trippy. Wasn't aware that they put this book to film, Eric - will have to check it out. BTW - although Naked Lunch was published as a novel, many of the incidents within are actual life events of Burroughs.

i havent seen naked lunch, but i read it a long time ago. thanks for the reminder.

and since i'm thinking of it, the NY DOLLS documentary is worth seeing, the one about Killer Kane. You dont have to be a NY Dolls fan to watch it (i am not).....its NOT what you expect.....

cool about Donnie Darko Curry, i've been meaning to see that. And i was in line at the theater for Fear and Loathing...... can't wait for the Rum Diaries anytime now, i guess Cap't Jack Sparrow needs to get some big motion picture money his way before the Rum Diaries gets released....

Looks like you got some good ones there, Linnie. Sleeper is a scream - if you like it try another of Woody's earlier movies Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Sex But Were Afraid To Ask...another funny, funny movie.

Tree's lounge... been out for a long while, but one of my fav's.

agree with the Jacket. good haunting music thru-out.

I like Clay Pigeon's, but then i like Jaquin Pheonix in most rolls... Janeane Garafalo is a hoot as the FBI agent.

Three Burials of Meiquiades Estrada is kind of interesting. I think it's Tommy Lee Jones first directing attempt. Okay, it's real slow. so be forwarned.

Being There, w/ Peter Sellers and Shirley MacLaine is my all time favorite. Deep in a superficial way, and it contains the line "I like to watch". Or, if you have a kinky streak (and I think you may), the Secretary. I may have liked it since the one character is an oddball atty, which sort of resonates.
