That is a tough one, but if a gun was at my head, I think I would have to pick, Gimme Shelter.

I think Let it Bleed is one of the greatest Rock LPs of all time. That Stones era of Let it Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile are some of the best music there is.

I could listen to The Band's first two LPs for days on end and not be bored.

And very close up their behind would be The Beatles, White Album and Abbey Road.

I like more songs by other bands/singers than I like ABB songs. There are simply more to choose from. Not that I don't like ABB songs, they are simply part of my musical landscape

Right this minute it is "Seven Year Ache" by Roseanne Cash....God, that woman can sing.

Just one? That's tough to do....I'll just say that the most moving song I've ever heard is Eva Cassidy's"Somewhere Over The Rainbow." Simply incredible.

For today, let's go with "Are You Experienced?" by Jimi Hendrix.

That was the song that turned me on to music, and it will always have a special place in my heart. The backwards guitar solo on that song is proof positive that Jimi existed at a much higher level than most musicians. I haven't been the same since I heard that song for the first time, and I'm not going back!

If you can get, your mind together
then come on across to me
we'll hold hands, and then we'll watch the sunrise
from the bottom of the sea

Good one Rob
Good one also Rob (cupofjo) -- your post made me think of Susie, as all Beatles mentions here do
Couldn't possibly single out one song -- one song by an individual group maybe (MAYBE), not really one song all across the spectrum though

Twisted Hair, by Robbie Robertson & the Red Road Ensemble
Maray Volleyaye, by Mother Tongue (foreign group from an amazing comp CD of world music, Trance Planet)
Nobody Knows (studio)
on and on it could go, talking about music, sweet music

Van Halen - Unchained
Gov't Mule - Beautifully Broken
Mule
Led Zeppelin - Whole Lotta Love(and many others)
U2 - One
Beatles - In My Life(and many others)
Bob Dylan - I Shall Be Released

I could keep going, but this is rediculous.

John Lennon

Imagine

Imagine there's no heaven,
it's easy if you try,
no hell below us,
above us only sky.
Imagine all the people,
living for today yu-huh.

Imagine there's no countries,
it isn't hard to do,
nothing to kill or die for,
and no religion too.
Imagine all the people,
living life in peace yu-huh.

You may say I'm a dreamer
but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us,
and the world will live as one.

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
no need for greed or hunger,
a brotherhood of man.
Imagine all the people,
sharing all the world yu-huh.

You may say I'm a dreamer
but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us,
and the world will be as one

Tied with......

Van Morrison

Into the Mystic

We were born before the wind
Also younger than the sun
Ere the bonnie boat was won as we sailed into the mystic
Hark, now hear the sailors cry
Smell the sea and feel the sky
Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic

And when that fog horn blows I will be coming home
And when that fog horn blows I want to hear it
I don't have to fear it

I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
Then magnificently we will float into the mystic

And when that fog horn blows you know I will be coming home
And when that fog horn whistle blows I got to hear it
I don't have to fear it

I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
And together we will float into the mystic
Come on girl...

Too late to stop now

The first song that comes to mind is "When A Man Loves A Women", the Percy Sledge classic. I can remember playing it on the jukebox.

Gregg did a great version of this song on
disc 1 of "One More Try", An Anthology. I would love to hear him sing it live.
