I was very fortunate to attend this show as well as the show on April 5th. When i exited the show on march 27th, thought to myself that this was one of the tightest and best shows i had ever seen as far as the band's performance was concerned. I did not find the setlist that great but the band was so together and all vocals were amazing.

I got copies of about 7 of the shows and after listening to them several times each, i again reach the same conclusion that in terms of an amazing performance-setlist aside, the March 27th show really stood out.

Thanks to Jimwag, Eileen, Hank and a few others for sharing the music.

If you intend to get a show, check out march 27th, it is well worth it.

Thanks!

It seems that every year when Peachies Award time comes along, the "best" Beacon show is one of the 3 we all experienced during the Sweeties/Left Coast Party weekend...

But, when I listen to the whole run, you find big time gems on other days...like last year's 3/26/06 show, easily my favorite of the entire 2006 run.

I was also at 3/27 and I think that show stands out as the best if not one of the best of this last run.

Like you said, looking at the setlist it doesn't jump out at you but it was a special night of music.

I also want to thank JimWag, this guy and his cousin put out some of the best recordings from these great shows.

I was there on 3/27 also and I agree that it was one the tightest shows I had seen from the ABB in a long time. Plus, anytime the Colonel shows up, it's going to be a blast!

The 3/27 show was the only one I got to attend (had a terrific time). Glad to read some folks consider it one of the best from this year's Beacon run.

( loved Spoonful with the Col. )

Thanks Dutch and Fensranger - But I am only a trader, I pass along what I am most grateful to receive - the real credit for this show goes to two great "tapers" Joe (Beacon) and Mike. Glad to have helped you both to relive the feelings of being there!

My cousin Anthony's copy of the 04/06 show is a great one, as was the Brothers the whole night.
Peace and keep the Run alive!

great post doug and again i was at the april 5 show and as far as being at a show and having an upbeat great time, it was better than march 27. that being said, from a band perspective and vocals etc. the march 27th show was incredible. i have the tapes of everything but april 6 whic jimwag says was awesome and just on a listening basis, IMO, march 27th was a great show. i am not a technical music expert, just enjoy but thought everything just sounded great on the 27th. Greg vocals were as good as i have ever heard.

I always find it so hard to pick out the "best" show of the run. We all know they are all great in their own right and a lot of things need to be factored into that choice - set list, night of the show (Friday-Saturday vs. weekday night), type of crowd. I understand the 03/20 show was a bummer based on the "suit crowd".

That said, I will give you my feedback based on the shows I saw and where they rank right now as my "Favorite" (I don't use the "best show" ranking ) after a couple of play backs.

04/06 - Both sets were great, the band was on and the crowd gave it back early and late, plus great version's of Key to the Highway, Born Under a Bad Sign and Southbound with Frampton.

03/23 - My 52 B'day with my daughter, her husband and my son. Great guitar work, Manic Depression and off the chart versions of Standback and Black Hearted Woman. I felt the flow of both sets worked the best of the five shows I saw.

03/26 - All night the boys were there. South Side Johnny and the Horns, and It Stoned Me!

03/24 - All I have to say here is - Dazed & Confused!

03/30 - Real nice singing and awesome guitar work by Susan on Loving You is Sweeter than Ever and Lost Lover Blues.

This order changes based on my mood and what time of day I listen to them. I also like the 03/31 and 04/08 No Left to Run With versions. I have not got to the 03/27 show yet due to the crazy quarter end at work and the B&P's and trades right now.

I have a freind that will be making me a "favorite version" collection form this years run when I finally get to listen to all the shows. I know it won't be all 85 different songs, but it will be 4 CD's worth of "Brotherly" love.

Peace to all Brother and Sisters here! The Road Goes on Forever!
Enjoy the tunes this weekend!
JIM
