This is a question that comes up often with my friends and I. Although it has changed many times over the years, currently it's "All Blues" by Miles Davis

In My Life, Somewhere in Heaven (vocal intro only), Samba Pa Ti (sacred fire version), This is not Goodbye, Redemption Song, Brokedown Palace, Ripple, Time Waits for No One, Knocking on Heaven's Door, Stay Gold, Into the Mystic, Little Martha

(probably not all of these but who knows - they are songs that mean something to me)

Preferably something a few years old, recorded in 2093 perhaps

Landslide - Fleetwood Mac

There was special moment in time during that song.

Landslide
yes - that one's on my long list, halfskin...I like this sentiment (and hoping my reflection will still be present in some snow covered hill)

Well, Ive been afraid of changing
cause Ive built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
Im getting older too

Oh, take my love, take it down
Climb a mountain and turn around
If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well the landslide will bring it down

But for the funeral, I guess "Gathering Flowers for the Master's Bouquet"

if it's a Vegas style funeral, then I'd want Frank belting out "Send in the Clowns"

Deb beat me to it; Brokedown Palace. At a friend's a couple of years ago, they played Neil's Unknown Legend, that tore me up.

Not having a funeral but the featured music at the wake/party will be Allman Brothers Band at Fillmore East, Idlewild South and Eat A Peach. Cremation followed by pitching my ashes off a bike going at least 100 mph, or I'm coming back to haunt those who ignore my final wishes...

"Watersong"

the entire album "Loud Love" by Soundgarden, and "Sabotage" by Sabbath. those albums saved my life so its fitting they would see me off.

I've had my memorial service planned for a long time ("death and taxes," you know--plus being a control freak...). My setlist, in order, is:

Aint Wastin' Time No More (prelude)
Melissa
Blue Sky
Little Martha (postlude)

Y'all come!
