Only two weeks till the ABB, Mule, and DTB play the Beale Street Festival in Memphis.
I've got my ticket - who else is going? Tapers?

Enjoy Beale Street, Julie!!! You've got an excellent line up of musicians happening there and friends I've spoken to indicate this can be very family friendly, too!

Koko Taylor, our own Queen of the Blues is also playing. My daughters just love her. I hear she's opening the Blues Fest here early in June. Chicago has one of the only free blues festivals left. Come visit.

I'll be there (it's a few blocks from my house) - supposed to hear back on my photo pass today - I've shot the past three or four years so I don't anticipate any issues.

Taping is unfortunately not permitted at the fest, but there may be some steal tapers I guess - they showed up from a few sets from last year.

It's a fantastic time - enjoy it!

I've gone twice and hope to make it back soon. Last one I went to was soonafter some heavy rains had come through, and the park can get real sloppy, so keep that in mind when you are gearing up to head out.

One hint: WANDER! Memphis is a cool town. Lots of backstreet BBQ and the like.

jmintz - didn't know that was your 'hood! Will be sure to letcha know when I come back for the Music Fest or BBQ Fest.

Julie - haven't done the Chicago Blues Fest for a few years now ... maybe time to renew this tradition! My sis and I have already decided that next time we're in the area we will be getting ahold of you to try out your restaurant! Have fun in Memphis!

I went there last year to see Mule and I loved it. Such a great town. There were all these guys driving around in souped up cars. One was a lime gree dodge dart on big, big tires and the hood emblem was a gold hand with a thumb up. It was great. They must drive up and down the esplanade all day and night.

The park is great too. It has a nice grassy area in front of a large stage, with the Mississippi rolling along the banks of the park to the left if you’re looking at the stage. In the far distance, if you were looking from the stage, you see a beautiful vista. It was a really special place and this year the line up for all the nights is great.
