August 1989, Lakewood Amphitheater, Atlanta. It was an impulse thing, sort of thinking, well, I liked their records in the mid 70's, but had never seen them, so what the hey? Was blown away and have never looked back.

War Memorial Aud, Buffalo June 1979. I remember the encore went on for about an hour, they came back at least three times, anyway we missed the bus back to TO and spent the night in the bus station until the 6am left. I tried to go to see them in 75 but couldn't talk my dad into going after making him take me to the Guess Who that summer at the CNE in Toronto. Haven't missed much since.

Sunday June 30, 1974 Jeppenson Stadium University of Houston
Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen
The Eagles
The Allman Brothers Band

I was 15 at the time and my 13 year old little sister went with me!

I could have seen the ABB in March of 73 but none of my friends would go with me!!! Look who's having the last laugh now!!!

I also got to see the Gregg Allman Tour at the University of Houston that Fall and Dickey's Great American Tour on Thanksgiving night with the great Vassar Clements at the Music Hall in downtown Houston. I was sweet sixteen and very happy.

Where It All Begins really hooked me. I had always liked the band, but that album really did it. I remember wanting to go see the band in 94 and 95, but could not get anyone to go with me. My friends at that time were listening to different stuff and nobody was really interested. I wasn't up for going to a concert by myself yet.

It was in 1996 that my new friend Brian agreed to go to the show and he was as excited as I was to see the band. We saw them at Starlake Amplitheater (near Pittsburgh) on a summer evening that year. I started just seeing them once a year at Starlake, then it was twice a year - Starlake and Cleveland. Then it was those two and sometimes Detroit or Cincinnati. Next, I started checking the ABB's tour schedule and began scheduling trips to see friends and family in other parts of the country when the ABB was near their town. I would have never gone to New York City had it not been for the Allman's Beacon concerts. What a great love affair it has been.
