at 10:02 am this morning I went to the pre-sale site for the Darian Lake show all that was for sale was the 200s....what is the object of a "secret" pre-sale for members only, if they dont offer up the good seats ? at least let the FAMILY know what will be sold at the pre-sale and save us the frustration. the same was true for beacon tickets , at pre-sale all I could get was balcony...at the reg sales I got Orc. row C .....talk about a buzzz killer...

Get used to it, I guess. With the Boston presale, there weren't many great seats available for the presale OR the public on-sale. However, first 5 rows were available by auction for 3x $50 face value. Also, LiveNation website is offering "Premium seating" which apparently includes the side sections, toward the center 12-15 rows back, for OVER 3x $50 face value ($165 + fees to be exact). I think that before long, if not already, only Loge and extreme side orchestra seating will be available at affordable prices. There is almost no point in a presale OR breaking your neck at 10am Saturday morning when your chances are 1 in a million of getting really good seats.

I have never gotten good seats from any presale including ABB and Mule. I don't even try anymore. I always get better results in the general sale.

Ahhhh the good ole days when the pre sale actually meant getting premium seats. Now forget about it!

It's getting to the point where it is virtually impossible to get "good seats" without paying huge $$$. Unfortunately, scalping used to be illegal. Now it seems to be perfectly legal - they just call it an auction!

it does not matte rwho the pre-sale is for. every show i have gotten pre-sale were really bad seats. the last time i got them was for RUSH on the last tour.all the way up top. i then went online for the public sale and got great seats. they [ticketmaster, live nation ect.] want the cheap seats to go first so when the public onsale is on you have to buy the seats that cost more$. the only band i remember doing the good seats on pre-sale is THE STONES because the good seats are $500 and they want those to go fast. its all about the cash. the bands have nothing to do with what tix go during pre-sale

the band has a choice of promoter and venue. going to venues that are large corporate entities with a great deal of sponsorship will likely cause the good seats to be incredibly expensive or they will be held for sponsors. the latest police show is a great example. anyway, it is what it is and i am still going to the show........

I agree with you all, its all about the money. but if the abb web site takes the time to send me an E-mail to anounce the pre-sale at least tell us what type of seats will be sold. I will go to the show no matter what, but it would be nice if we were told what was what

Bob, I signed on at 10 and the first set of three seats I got were sec. 100, row 8.

I threw them back (foolishly) thinking I could do better.

After a couple of sets in the 200 sections, I got row 5.

My fat fingers screwed up and hit the wrong key, and I made the fatal mistake of hitting the back browser, which released those seats.

I tried for the next 30 minutes, and got mostly sec. 200 or sec 300.

More often I got the message that no seats of that number requested were available at that price range.

I stayed at it and at 10:30 got three in sec. 100, row 12, seats 2-4.

Karen has some in row 5 in sec. 101.

I tried at lunch and pulled up sec 200, 3rd row.

I'm happy with what I ended up with, should have kept row 8, or been more careful when row 5 came up.

Just tried for three and got sec 200 row 4.

Not bad seats, just not great.

Persistence sometimes pays off.

And you never know what will be available on Saturday.

If I were you, I'd keep trying.

The fewer you need, the better.

So true! I think that the last time I got good seats by going through Ticketmaster was in 1993 at Deer Creek just outside of Indy. They were dead center 2 row.
I noticed alot of ticketbrokers will have tickets to a show before it ever goes on sale?
How's that works?

I tried to get tickets this past weekend for Rush here at Verizon outside of Indy and I was right there when they went on sale and was really quick getting in there within seconds and I could not even get two seats in the lower pavilion. They were gone that quick.

They don't actually have the tickets in hand.

They advertise based on what they think they can get.

The main thing to remember with **** master is that the phrase "best available" is
absolutely meaningless. I have no idea how their system works, but it seems to kick out crappy seats at random. For the last ten or so Allman shows I have gone to, I have sat at my computer hitting the refresh buttom a million times until 10:00 am. Result: I have never gotten anything remotely decent. By "remotely decent" I mean first three sections of an outdoor pavilion or first 20 rows of Orch at Beacon. Not asking for front row, but you'd think just once the odds would say I would get decent seats. The only conclusion: where there is an incentive to corrupt a "supposedly" fair process (i.e. $$$$$$$$$) and a way (i.e. an insider or some other form of ticket nepotism) to corrupt that process, it will be corrupted. Don't you wish your spouse worked for Ticketmaster?

My brother used to work at a record store that had a TM outlet.

He pulled us 4th row for Springsteen one year.

We were the first customer of the day, and didn't even go to the store.

Damn shame the manager ran the store into the ground.

I also got 4th row Skynyrd there one time, totally legit, no early pull.

BTW, this was LiveNation, not ticketbastard, for today's ABB sale.

Unfortunetly, most if not all outdoor venues's first 3 sections are for 'VIP members" = (Season tix)

Blame LiveNation for that, not TM.

I get the feeling that the prime reason for a 'special pre-sale' is a way for the band/promotors to get money up front as early as possible.... It seems like every band has a 'special pre sale' nowadays.

I don't think that it means that the seats are any better than the 'official sale date' and are oft times generally not as good.

Thanks for the old Ticketron memories, Ron. I remember hitting the local department store in Oswego for Grateful Dead tickets...lined up a couple of hours before they went on sale, always got fantastic seats....

Don't think Darien or SPAC have season ticket holders.

Actually, I've only heard of that out of state.

Ticketron, that was it.

Those were the days.

Used to go to SEARS dept. store in Houston for my Rodeo tickets.

Well, I appreciate a presale and expect that sometimes I won't get a decent seat with them. I was not thrilled with any of the Beacon seats in either the presale or the regular sale, but I appreciated having two chances at them.

That is the purpose of the presales and I would hope people feel that they are being given a gift (since it isn't a paid membership club or anything like that) to have the two chances.

That said, I have been very happy with the presale seats I have been pulling for the summer shows. I learned a long time ago to thrown back any seat I will not be happy with. So that is why I am happy. I just don't buy anything I don't like.

I generally don't get the greatest seats anymore through presale or otherwise, but I do not yearn for the days of retail ticket sales. It was cool in high school to camp out for tix(ie Led Zep), but now it's 15 min at the computer on a Sat morning and that's it. I'll take only decent tix please.
