Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has ever gotten a chance to chat with any of the members of The ABB? Warren, Derek, Greg, etc. Maybe after a show or something...
I am not old enough to be lucky enough to see the original lineup, but any Duane, Berry stories would be great to hear.
Not as cool as meeting a member of The ABB, but I just saw David Lindley last weekend in Pa & he hung out with us after the show. he's quite a character. I also got to chat with Devon Allman when he came to Jim Thorpe to play Penns Peak; he's the man.
Thanks to all who have a story to share.

Andrew

I met Derek after a DTB show in Towson Marylandn back in 2004. He was really laid back and friendly. I had recently moved from Chicago and he was headed to Chicago to play the Park West. We talked about what a great venue the Park West is and places to go eat. He told me that he loves "The Weiner Circle" on Clark Street. I got a good laugh out of that.

Hey Andrew, in the Gregg Allman forum, there is a long list of meeting the brothers posts. There are indeed some good 'uns.

Anybody who's ever been in the Weiner Circle on Clark Street would get a good laugh out of that.

I told Derek to not to order a pizza puff because the Weiner Circle staff will freak out if he does. Derek seems like an intelligent guy so I assume he heeded my warning.

I met Warren after an ABB show at the Trump Taj Mahal in AC back in '90.
At the 23 East in Ardmore after a show from his Tales tour.
Then again at a Penn's Landing show in Philly in '03.

Also retrieved on his picks at the Tweeter (or Blockbuster) in Camden back in '96.

I was talking to Oteil at the Jam For A Cure. I told him I saw the web broadcast of the Peacmakers show at the Soapbox on March 5th. He asked "How was I" I said he rocked and was a great show. he told me he was trying to find a copy of the show. I told him I would contact the group that did the broadcast and look on etree. He said cool and to let him know what I found.

Very quick conversations with Derek,Oteil, and Susan at the HTN parties the last two years

Ran into Dickey in Greenwich Village after seeing BHLT many years ago.Shared something puffable and talked music for 10 or 15 minutes

Not ABB,but I pulled an all nighter with Paul Butterfield in Kenny's Castaway(a bar in GV) many years ago.

I've had the great fortune of having chats with a few of the ABB and extended family, including Warren, Allen Woody(the most REAL and straight-shooting rock star ever), Derek, Susan, most of the DTB. All were very gracious and down to earth.

During the last Beacon Run my buddy and I ran into Derek & Susan at the post-ABB Jason Crosby show in the Village on 3/26. It was around 1am, my buddy and I were kinda hammered and having the greatest time after the ABB show. Crosby's band with Oteil, and Robert Randolph had just finished up and we were in the back of the club slugging a Guiness. Oteil and Kofi were having a chat at the back bar. I look to my left and Derek & Susan were standing right beside us, talking and having a beer. I blabbered something about how much we enjoyed the show and loved their music. One of those times I wish I hadn't had so many drinks so I could've carried on some kind of intelligent conversation.

The next night 3/27, another friend and I stopped into Starbucks, next to the Beacon, just before the show, around 8pm. Jaimoe was standing in line right in front of us. My buddy, who is a drummer was kind of freaking. We very politely told Jaimoe to have a great show. My friend blabbered about how he is a drummer and has been playing ABB music for years. Jaimoe said, "Great. Let me know when your CD comes out. I'll buy one." I asked Jaimoe if The Brothers would be coming back to NYC next year. He said, "I'm not even thinking about next year. We're going to have a good time tonight though" or something like that. Although the line was short, it took FOREVER to get our coffee. When Jaimoe paid for his, he dropped a $10 bill on the counter and told the cashier that whatever we wanted was on him and he walked out. JAIMOE BOUGHT US COFFEE!!!
From my experiences, this ABB family is not only immeasureably talented, but just plain great people.

Got hooked up with Warren back in the day through a friend of a friend of Jaimoe.
This was before Tales of Ordinary Madness came out. I got on the guest list
and got a board patch for a bunch of Warren Haynes band shows and I always
gave Warren a tape of the last show when I came to the next one. I was doing
a board + audience mix and he commented that he liked that better than
the straight board (esp at small clubs like wetlands).

Also met Warren and Jaimoe backstage at the Power Jam(s) in 93 at the Ritz.

Both were very friendly and great to talk to.
