This is a terrible tragedy - my heart goes out to the families of the victims (and to the family of whoever is responsible - it has got to be hard knowing your loved one has committed such an act).

Listening to the cellphone video on CNN, the final shot fired sounds much different than all the prior shots.

Either a different gun was used or the shooter was shot by Police.

Sh*t, my sister just IM'ed me and reminded me that our first cousin Curt's daughter goes to VT and is there. I had forgottn all about it. Thankfully, we know now that she is alright. Wow, this could have been a bad, bad day for the family, and my heart goes out to all the victim's families that are getting the news hour by hour.

This is just unbelievable, so terrible. My next door neighbor/life long friend just im'd me. He lives in West AJ, the dorm where the shooting first occured. He said people were shot on the floors below him. I couldn't imagine that happening. He just told me one of the kids in his building died...wow, i'm speechless

This is so tragic. Msnbc is also reporting that the shootings do not seem random! I'm sure it will be days if not weeks before the complete story comes out. A friend and I were talking yesterday about how we needed a big news event to get past the overkill of Imus. We never thought it would be something this horrific.

With all the joy we have experienced over the last month, isn't it incredible that there are some human beings out there that can be so freakin' evil. I am glad I was a kid when I was a kid. I feel terible that kids today have to witness all the crap like 9-11 and todays tragedy and Columbine and on and on and on. When I was a kid we didn't even lock the freakin' doors of our house. I hope something starts to change the way our culture is evolving. Too much violence !!! Too much crime !!! Not enough respect for human life !!!!! Sorry about this bummer of a post, but whenever I hear about something like this it just makes me want to cry.

what a crazy world we live in. The thought of sending you kids away to school and having to think that stuff like this goes on, even at a university, Am very interested to hear about this person and what could possibly set someone off like this. My heart goes out to everyone who is part of this tragedy. Over thirty dead!!!!

Don't you be sorry Pete.... I'm REALLY pissed about this and all the other horrible things that have been happening over the recent years. Somebody had to notice signs of this person having a problem but now days, nobody wants to get involved.... I remember not having to lock the doors - EVER! Had a great time as a kid and never felt threatened in any way. Known child molesters and other types of criminals are being freed and living in our neighborhoods all over the place and even have told the authorities not to let them out into society cuz they will do it again!!!! I know things like what happened today can't always be prevented but I'm willing to give up my privacy rights if that's what it's gonna take to empower authorities to help in being proactive with tragedies like this. Something's gotta be done about preventing this EVER happening again.
