What are your 5 favorite Instant Live ABB CDs over the last few years?

I own one (Raleigh, 2003--with Branford Marsalis, which is quite good) and want to buy a few more.

I can highly recommend Camden, NJ 8-18-06. Nice set list, Tom Petty sits in on "Highway 61" and they do a "Layla" encore.

Some of the best Instant lives I have (have about 25) are actually the shows I have attended over the last few years. Dont know if thats by coincidence or not, it just worked out that way. Definitely agree that 8-18-06 Camden is a great Il. Hot show from begining to end. Second disc is as good as anything I have on IL. Melissa ( Warrens tone is spot on), Jessica (Derek smokes it). Highway 61 is great W/ Tom Petty and Heartbreakers sitting in but the highlight of that show is the only Layla of the summer. Derek is just wailing. Sends you to another planet. Absolutely great show. Cannot go wrong w/ this one. 6-30-06 House of Blues is also a hot show, with a Mountain Jam/ One way out opener that had us floored. Smokestack Lightning is hot and the Whippin Post encore is one of the best versions of the year ( Warrens solo at the end of WP is surreal). For something very different try Penns landing 7-23-05, Warren was ill and Derek carried the show by himself w/ Ron Holloway on sax to fill in. Very different but fantastic just the same. Great stormy Monday and Franklins Tower. If youre a Derek fan, this one is definitely is for you. Hope this helps.

My favorite IL's are also from shows I attended. 9/5/2004 at the Post-Gazette Pavilion is one of my favorites. Not only was it a great show, but it was the first IL I ever bought, the first time I ever sat right up next to the stage, and the first time I ever heard the Brothers do Layla. A lot of fond memories for me, but also a great show in it's own right.

Go back through the peachy nominations for the past couple years and you'll see what shows and songs from certain shows people were nominating for awards. That should give you an idea of a flew ILs or audience recordings you will want to get.

I like them all but my favorite is 8/13/05 Rosemont Theater with Jack Pearson sitting in for Warren.

8/20/04 Gilford (was there, one of the best shows I ever attended)
8/21/04 Mansfield (every bit as good, maybe even better -- the playing matches the killer setlist)
8/20/05 Mansfield (w/Chuck L. sitting in on Dreams & Desdemona)
10/1/05 Atlanta

It might be more prudent to wait a little while and digest it more thoroughly, but I'm pretty confident saying that last night's Wanee show will easily make my Top 5. If you're a lover of long jams, and I know I am, that was about as close to musical nirvana as you can get! 10 songs--2 1/2 hours of music! Average song length=15 minutes That's what I'm talking about!
Besides great versions of Mountain Jam, Liz Reed and Whipping Post, which you don't often hear in the same show, Dreams and Good Morning Little Schoolgirl were jammed out and amazing as well.

The CDs should be ready in about 2-3 weeks

But 2-3 weeks is better than three months after the tour ends.

The Fox run from '04 is unforgettable.
Also, the 2 night stand in KC from '05, and the 2 shows in Niagara last year.

i'd start with the Fox Box from 2004. 9/24, 25, 26/2004.
Dreams is the only repeated song during the three nights. Derek takes the solos one night, Warren one night and Jack Pearson one night.

Then I'd add Atlanta 8/20/06.
The Wanee 8/14 & 15/06. The second Wanee show is Warren and Jack.

Picking up one of the Derek and Jack shows is worth while, too. 8/13/05 Chicago is great.

Also, Chuck guests on a few, 8/20/05 Mansfield, MA has Chuck on several songs including Jessica.

Enjoy them!

I agree with many of these (Fox Box, Atlanta 06) but the Charlottesville 05 show is just fantastic.

I totally agree with the above recommendations for Mansfield (especially the 04), Atlanta and Camden shows. If you like horns the 8/27/05 Syracuse show is a keeper. And the Jones Beach 8/24/04 show gives you Statesboro, Black Hearted Woman, Mountain Jam, Whipping Post and a smashing Layla encore.

Syracuse 8/27/05 is the best ABB I've ever seen.

3/18/06 is number one.

If only there were Beacon ILs - 3/18/06 is such an amazing show

Besides that, the Fox Box is probably the way to go. 3 shows, no repeated songs (except for the Mountain Jam sandwich)

Other good ones that I've heard are Atlanta 10/1/05 and Charlotte 8/9/03

The version I have of 3/18 is almost as good as an IL.

Outstanding for an aud. tape.

Thanks
