Totally agree with you! The show would have been nothing without George. (Kramer too). I think one of my favorite episodes was the one where Jerry got stuck with "Farfel" the dog after the drunk guy on the plane had the medical emergency. On a side note, I think Julia Louis Dreyfuss is one of the hottest women on TV..whats amazing is since Seinfeld ended, everyone else got older, but she looks the same. ;-)

If you like Seinfeld you need to check out the HBO series "Curb Your Enthusiasm". Former Sienfeld writer (creator?) Larry David plays himself, a character very to similar to George.

If you liked Seinfeld, you'll like CYE. Plus it's HBO...they can say "fuck" if they want to.

And yeah, Julia is hot.

I dont have HBO :-(

(Yay Starz!)

Ive actually seen CYE a couple of times back when I had HBO and I didnt care for it too much. The thing with George was the dynamics with all the other characters. I think everyone has a little George in them somewhere...some more than others LOL! His parents were hysterical.

This was a great show ... many good episodes and great characters. I liked the episode where Jerry, Elaine, George, and Kramer made a bet over who could 'hold out' the longest and Kramer popped into Jerry's apt and slammed his $$$ on the counter the next day. And Elaine dancing...LOL

Seinfeld is one of the few shows that I can watch reruns of and never seem to get tired of.

One cool side affect is that my kids also love the show, they even bought some of the DVD's.

Sad, but we will sit and watch as many reruns as the channels show and never get tired of the show. I really like ALL the characters, which doesn't happen with many sitcoms.

I love MASH but find it hard to watch reruns sometimes.

Yet the show seemed to stereotype hispanics, especially on the Puetro Rican Day Parade episode where the Puerto Ricans are portrayed in a stereotypical way and Kramer stomps on the Puerto Rican flag, ("The violent Law & Order promo being shown on the NBC network and the lack of sensitivity from NBC, greatly resembles our experience with the Seinfeld Show in 1998." The National Puerto Rican Coalition - http://www.bateylink.org/policy.htm, "Seinfeld' Exemplifies Ignorance About Puerto Rico" - http://www.puertorico-herald.org/issues/2003/vol7n37/Seinfeld-en.html) and God forbid an African American character was fleshed out in any way on the show, and one espisode even highlighted the barbaric 'sport ' of chicken cock fighting in a positive way. Shouldn't this show be boycotted??

While I like all the main characters, it's the minor characters that pull the whole thing together and make for a more interesting show. Love the Costanzas, Newman, David Putty and J. Peterman. Mr. Bookman was a riot. I like that they didn't over use any of the minors and they didn't become tiresome. Great writing and acting.

Derek,

As a Puerto Rican, I resent your standing up for me

I saw the episode and was never offended. CONTEXT was everything in that episode. And, yes, Ricans have a funny bone and a sense of humor. It is only a very small segment of the Ricans who objected.

How about the episode where Kramer adopts a road, tries to widen the road for maximum enjoyment, creates traffic nightmare, eventually causes postal truck, driven by Newman to explode?

I still watch the reruns, and this was and still is, one of the few shows that I actually laugh out loud at. I think what made the show great, other than the fine cast of major and minor characters, was in the later years when multiple stories were going on and each show jumped around each idea so they were never flogging a dead horse, which most sitcoms seem to do.

My favorite espisodes are:

- Festivus
- any featuring George working for the Yankees (especially when Steinbrenner comes to the Costanza house to tell them George is dead and all Frank cares about is why the Yankees traded Jay Buhner!)
-When Kramer builds the Merv Griffin set in his apt.
- Kramer and Newman ship bottles to Michigan

Just to name a few

I agree. In fact, my uncle Pete Vaquez, who married mty Dad's siter helen, is fullblown Puerto Rican born on the island. I was refering to Squatch's Imus diatribe.

My favorite episode is "Man Hands." First of all, it has four seperate but great plots running through the same episode. You have Man Hands dating Jerry, you have the secret beautiful models party room that Costanza gets into using a pic of Man Hands saying that she was his attractive widowed fiance', you have Elaine hanging with the anti-matter opposing world versions iof Jerry, Costanza and Kramer, and you have Kramer going to the corporate job that he doesn't really have. Great stuff.

DH

Yeah, because that episode was just like Imus calling a whole bunch of African American women "nappy headed hoes". Can we have just one thread where you arent a complete **** ?

All Puerto Ricans were shown in stereotypical fashion in that episode,,

"The violent Law & Order promo being shown on the NBC network and the lack of sensitivity from NBC, greatly resembles our experience with the Seinfeld Show in 1998." The National Puerto Rican Coalition - http://www.bateylink.org/policy.htm,

I could give you many more examples of the problem with that. That isn't relevant to you??? Why not??

Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm are the 2 shows I can watch reruns of over and over again and laugh my butt off every time. I agree with Nicole about the supporting characters; Peterman, Jerry's and George's parents, really add to the shows.

Does NYC have a Puerto Rican Day Parade for real? If so, please describe some of these stereotypes that you claim are on Seinfeld. Ive seen that episode a thousand times. I didnt really notice the "stereotypes" you are talking about, but then again, Im not attuned to the races in the same manner as you seem to be judging by your defense of of Limbaugh and Imus who have made racist comments previously. Maybe I just need your level of nuance.

Looks to me like you are fishing for something to complain about regarding this. Here you were in the other thread complaining about the PC nature of it all and now here you are wondering why nobody is upset at Seinfeld for a scene in an episode involving Puerto Ricans? You need to pick a position and stay with it. Rush is on so you might want to go listen to half of what he says so you know what you are thinking for later.

First four seasons are the most brilliant comedy ever on Television. Seasons five and six were better but not as good. The last two seasons were catastrophic. You had to have watched the show from the get go to understand the nature of the decline. And When the show started in 1989 Julia Louis Dreyfuss who played Elaine was perhaps 32 years old. Jason Alexander (George) was 29. Jerry was a bit older, maybe 35.

Agreed. I think the final couple of episodes are some of the worst ones on TV. Its like they ran out of ideas and simply just wanted to end the show and didnt care how they did it. For me though, the show was a little dull prior to Kramer getting full character development. Once they had more "Kramer" and less "Doc Brown", it got a lot better.

Too funny!
