Hey fellow Waneetians. This may be old news to some but I just took a good look at the Wanee website "Guidelines-FAQ's" and they say there is a very strict NO PET policy at the park. Even said if they see a pet in your car when you come through you will be turned around. Was just wondering how many of you knew about this. It would really suck to drive a long way and then find this info out at the gate, Ouch! Safe traveling!

Reminds me of a story from the Gorge in 2003 watching the dead. Had a couple beside us camping with 2 dogs named porter and amber (Pacific Northwest ofcourse). Couple partied all night and drove everyone bonkers screaming their dogs names. Dogs would come back then take off again. They finally went to sleep about 6 in the morning. Anyway I rolled out of bed around 7 and to aid the couples sleep I started calling out Amber Porter. Dogs went wild in the tent and owners were pissed. I laughed while packing up.
Leave the pets at home a concert venue is no place for Fido, Amber or Porter.

Thats a damn good one. Sounds familiar.

It is hard to imagine why some folks would bring their pets. I have a hard enough time taking mine when I am camping alone. My dog is good, but can drive me nuts sometimes.

I will just throw him a big ol bone before I leave and he will love me just the same when I get back.

"Trucks" has been lookin at me with that I know my @$$ is fixing to go to the vet look. I dont know how he knows, but he does. I want be able to get my hands on him game time.
He always knows when he is going to be boarded....12 bucks a day aint bad. I wish I had a picture of me trying to get him in the Vets door.

Reminds me of a comedian one time... was describing the difference between his cat and dog...the dog is absolutely shocked everytime I go out the door without him but the cat...the cat looks up from being curled up in the corner and utters, hey, don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out...

I've been to Spirit of Suwanee MP about 10 times, and just about every time I've been I've seen a few people with dogs. While I'm not recommending anyone bring a pet (let your conscience be your guide), I have not seen the "no pet policy" being strongly enforced at SOSMP. I think because it's a year-round campground, the park staff is used to pets being around, and ignores the "no pets" policy that's only in effect during festivals.

Hope this helps.

We had a bad experience with our neighboring campers dogs. I usually dont call folks idiots. But these two folks were so inconsiderate to their dogs. I couldnt believe they left them in the car all day and night. They had the windows cracked a little, but I know they were hot and thirsty. When they finally returned they wanted some water. I asked them is it was for them or their dogs. I was not going to give them water, but as long as it was for their dogs, the dogs got it. I walked over with them and made sure the dogs got the water.
I kind of gave them an ear full about it. They didnt have any care or sense about it.

The dogs howled off and on, I almost broke out their car window to let the dogs out. Man, it was hot in the afternoon. It was so cruel. If they hadnt of showed when they did, I would had tracked down some authority to get help for the pooches......That is so cruel.

I can take a lot of stupid things from people, but being cruel to the pets or kids, it just boils my blood. Dont folks know dogs dont sweat. Dogs can die in a car in less that a couple hours on a good jhot day. I wanted to tie those folks to a tree and leave them a while, but 2 wrongs wouldnt make it right for the K-9s.

Some people should not be allowed the privledge of having animal friends. This is so much crueler than the alternative of boarding the animal.

Your right, I had some folks stay behind and didnt come with us and watched our dogs. I did check the vet. 12 bucks a day, what a deal. There is no excuse for the cruelty. Man, it tore me up. I can take alot but that gets to me............

Yeah I had to drive an hour and half after getting back from Wanee to pick up my dog but it was worth it for him to be safe and comfortable. I hate seeing dogs locked in cars at shows.

There was a guy who we made room for in RRC who had his dog there. Nice dog, nice dude, too. We hung out for a bit. But I was wondering, how did he get his dog in if this was a no pets allowed venue? I saw a few dogs, as a matter of fact. Puzzling.....

There was a time Friday night all the music slowed and quit for a minute. All of a sudden there about 5 -6 dogs just started howling. That was funny. The music stopped and all the mutts decided to make their own music. That was before the neighbors brought in their dogs. I did see many other dogs.

Another was at down at the river. A guy brought his dog, he chucked a dirt filled plastic bottle way across the river and that dog dov after it. The dog was nuts over that bottle retrieving. It entertained us all.

Dave, weren't you there? when the guy said, "I am going to take my dog down to see Derek." And, I said, "Don't do it, it is too loud!" Glad I didn't know about the 2 locked in the car, I would have had a fit! I would have put together a lady brigade and we would have rescued those babies.........

Yes, I WAS there! He ended up leaving the dog in the truck...the back of the truck, properly ventalated and secure, I might add. He and I walked together to the Soul Stew Revival show, then separated from there.

Any chance it mighta been a 'Service animal' ?????

i.e. We travel with one, oddly enough, it's a cat. We have Dr's papers we occassionally have to show, but there's never really been any problem, especially in GA. State Parks where no pets are allowed in the group camps we frequently use.

Just got back from a re-inactment week in MS.
Cat traveled everywhere with me, in a black canvas back-pack (her's) set on woven back-pack wheels (my shopping cart) I attended a mess-o-classes and most folks didn't even know she was with me........the site only allows horses, racing greyhounds, and service animals. She qualified, but once folks found out she was there, we had a LOT of traffic coming into our private camp, begging for a 'kitty fix'

Unlike the problems encountered with dogs and camping, she never makes a sound. And Stays on a leash.
The #1 line I hear is "Okay, I've Gotta Know,........what happens when ya let-the-cat-outta-the-bag ????? !!!!!"

Anyway Dave, the guy's dog may have arrived with Dr's papers.
(Most Service cats are for help with nervous disorders, just in case anyone is wondering,.....we have two we're authorized to have one of, with us,......depends on the situation we're heading for. Trevor is better at the job, but at 16 pounds of 'sociable fe-lion' he's a handful to deal with when we get where we're going, as he wants to get out and go meet everyone,........our little girl, is shy and prefers to stay in her bag, so she's better for longer stays and camping,.....but no barking,.....)
