RatDog is playing first, but I don't know if they are the "opening act" per se. Rumor has it each band will do a single 2 hr set.

The ABB always plays one set in the summern (unless it's "An Evening With") but the opening act usually gets a truncated set.

When I saw the ABB as an evening with, it was one set as well. Wasn't much longer than a show with an opener too. Eff casinos

I thought that "An Evening With" meant that there was no opening act, not a longer set...I could be way off though.

I like RatDog a lot but there is NO WAY the ABB is opening for them. And I would be surprised if they got equal time.

When the Allman Brothers toured with Phil and Friends, both bands got about equal time, and I could see Ratdog getting a pretty long set. I'll leave the Phil vs. Bobby thing alone for now

I definitely think they would get at least as much time as moe. did when they opened for the ABB. The moe/ABB show in Atlanta on 10/1/05, moe. played well over an hour.

No way will Ratdog be playing a 45 minute set. At least an hour, probably 90, maybe even 2 hours.

I just would not put RatDog in the same category as PLF. I think Phil has a much bigger draw. RatDog will get more then 45 minutes, I just dont think it will be equal to what the brothers time will be. I am a happy campr either way. am a big Ratdog fan

I can't think of any reason the ABB would be opening.

Beach to Peach with Phil and Friends was equal time and rotating headline position. Some great shows.
Jimmy sitting in with the Brothers, Derek with Phil. good stuff.

I think some people would agree with me, that regardless of how most of us feel, we can't deny that Petty draws to a larger, more generic crowd. More people are interested in seeing him than the Allman Brothers...whether that's good, bad, sad, disapointing or whatever is kind of trivial...its how it worked out. however, I don't think Ratdog is more popular then the ABB like Petty is, so I agree with everyone else that the ABB will headline. I also just can't see Ratdog playing under an hour...just seems short for a band like that.

I'd be surprised if the two bands didn't get equal time. I would expect a two hour set from each band, probably alternating opening and closing from day to day.

And since the ABB doesn't seem to come west of the Mississippi River, I'm looking forward to spending my money seeing Ratdog in Scottsdale and at Bonnaroo!

My guess is that since the show is starting at 7:00, that Ratdog will get an 75 minute set, and the ABB will get one two hour set, with a 30 minute break between sets. Truth is, ABB is a much bigger band than Ratdog (which still is doing clubs and theaters). I know that all the Deadheads that visit here are going to have a hard time believing that, but the music world doesn't (and never did for that matter) revolve around the Grateful Dead and it's various offshots such as Phil and Friends (which I would put in the same league at the ABB) and Ratdog (which I wouldn't).

I'd have to say that it will be an almost equal set time...if ABB opens, I'm gone when they are done.

allrighty!! I know ABB is better know than Ratdog for the masses..For sure..
Ratdog is for many a great band, they have thousands of fans, but i think for many more they are a band with and ex member of The Grateful Dead..Get it?

But explain for me what you meant by saying that the music world never revolved around The Grateful dead and their offshots??

If the shows start at seven, there is no way that both bands can have a two-hours sets as most venues (sheds) have a 11 o'clock curfew. Also, the Allman Brothers are a BIGGER band than Ratdog, especially on the East Coast, and truth is, most of the venues they're playing they've "headlined" many times in the past and thus they will no doubt continue to do so. I expect Chihuahua (I mean Ratdog) to be doing the opening.
