Was I the only person that had this music flowing through his head every time he looked at a subway map?

I was like, "hey, the Grammercy Riffs! . . . the Van Cortlandt Rangers! . . . The Jones Street Boys! . . . etc."

My buddy mentioned the Warriors once, he loves that movie, I think it came out when he was in high school or something. He made me watch it, I guess it is ok, but he is into it.

First year I was in NYC we took cabs and walked everywhere, subways intimidated me. Too many different trains to figure out, express-local stops, scary underground stations, etc, but now I wouldn't even think about going to NYC without getting an unlimited subway metro card. We ride all the time now, it is the best way to travel in the city.

Same here. I was very nervous about the subway for a long time. We would take the $8.00 cab ride from Penn Station to the Beacon. Then someone introduced me to the #1 train. It drops you off one block from the Beacon, is faster, and costs less. Last week we took another train to Irving Plaza and it was a very quick ride. And last year we wouldn't have made it to the Phil and Friends blizzard show Feb. 12 of last year if it were not for the subway. The Long Island Railroad shut down all service from Jamaica Queens to the city. That just happens to be where the subway starts. It was a bit complicated and we had to change trains about three times, but it got us to the show. Now I always use the subway.

I loved the subways - convenient, cheap, and fast! We did take cab back and forth from airport because of luggage and took cab back to upper west side from BB's Sat night but other than that it was subway. Got used to train when I lived in Chicago - never drove to work because it was just too convenient to take El (and didn't have expense or hassle of parking downtown). As far as the music question...lol...ummm, didn't happen here!

New York has changed quite a bit since then. The subways are perfectly safe and used by millions of people every day.
