The other day me and my buddy were talking about the Allmans, and he says "Yeah my father's buddy is playing drums with them this week."

I thought he was just **** tin' me.

Come last night they announce Bernard Purdie guesting on the drums.

So i says to myself, 'self, isn't this is the guy he just told me about?!"

I called my buddy to find out more about Mr. Purdie and how he knew him.

Turns out Bernard Purdie is a renowned session man and lives down the block from my house.

Huh now that's purdie cool indeed! zing

"Howdy Neighbor, How about some back stage passes for Friday's show?!"

Bernard Purdie also used to play with King Curtis. He's a hell of a drummer.

Benrard Pretty Purdie if you please.Used to bring a big sign to sessions with his name on it announcing that they had hired the world's best drummer. Also played in a great little band called Hummingbird that I'm quite fond of. The Purdie shuffle man...

"You Done it........... You done hired the hitmaker. Bernard 'Pretty' Purdie"

thats the sign they are referring to.

He's quite the cat. Listen to "Home At Last" on Steely Dan's Aja and you'll know exactly what the Purdie shuffle is.

I believe Bernard is/should be renowned for his work with a band called ... oh what is it? ... Steel ... Steely ... yeah that's it! ... Steely Dan! In particular his work on the Aja album.

He played in Jeff Beck's live band during the Blow by Blow period. Good enough for me.
