I figure someone here has to be in a fraternity or sorority...We're eighty something percent at our school so basically everyone is. I joined Sigma Phi Epsilon this winter and I really enjoy it. It is a great experience and is...yeah, awesome. We have Sig Ep, Sigma Chi, Kappa Sig, Lambda Chi, SAE, KA, Phi Psi, Pi Phi, Sigma Nu, Phi Delt, Phi Kap, PIKA, Chi Psi, and FIJI, with Beta coming back next year..if anyone is in any of those, and Pi Phi, Kappa Kappa Gamma, KD, Theta and Chi O for sororities. Its pretty important to people here and just wondering if anyone here shares the interest...

Joined Beta many moons ago. Have to say, have some of my closest friends and best college memories are from fraternity life...Also, some incredible Dead shows (but that's a separate thread )..While not a "prerequisite" at my school and I had a lot of non-Greek buds, I always look back fondly on those years...Even being a pledge

I was in a fraternity and was even a pledgemaster back in 1984. Those were truly the best years of my life

We recently had a reunion with about 100 brothers from the 80's returning for a weekend of debauchery. It was a slice of heaven all over again!

I don't like the Greek system. That being said, I did join Lambda Chi Alpha at Troy in 1974. It was a small frat then ( as I was a founding member) and was, to a great degree, an anti-fraternity with a bunch of long-haired dope smokers. It did evolve into, pretty much, a classic frat and I didn't enjoy it as much then. BUT... LXA does not have a pledge system and "associates" were able to attend meetings and had full voting privileges as did "brothers." No hazing either. Initiation was actually an investigation, an adventure and very much and a "head trip" so that was to my liking also. No pledges, hazing, etc. That's bs. At larger schools the greek system seems to be a country club for the type of folks that gravitate to that lifestyle. Killer parties though. Haha!

I'm a greek (regardless of how many would suggest taking the "r" outta greek ).

On our campus Sigma Nu was "affectionately" known as Sig Manure.

And Kappa Kappa Gammas as Kappa Cappacino.

Made many lifelong friends. Didn't allow any hazing. Very positive experience for me.

LJ, my mom's side of the family was in Anderson, IN, just down a piece from Muncie. I had a cousin who went to BSU in the early to mid 80's. When were you there?
