Just announcing the good news.. I got engaged to my long-time boyfriend this past weekend. One of the first things I did was go to my computer, pull up iTunes and start putting a music set list together for my reception. No chicken dance!!!!!
Any advice on how to plan this thing would be appreciated, any funny experiences at your own weddings would also be appreciated

Congrats!!!!!
The only advice I give people is that while it's nice to worry about everyone else, make sure you take time to enjoy the day yourself. It goes fast.
Funny timing.I got engaged 19 years ago today(exactly one year after we started dating and exactly one year before we got married)I figured it would be easier to only have one date to remember. ____________________ Every time I think I have the world licked

Congrats UT2F!!! Yes, your right. For my wedding, I went into my cocktail party and mingled with alot of guests. It gave me alot of time for myself during the reception. I also made sure that I got one side of the family pics done during the cocktail hour as well. That saved alot of time too. ____________________

According to my wife, our wedding reception was a fiasco!
Guest had tons of fun though, maybe that's a big part of what really counts.
You, Dad, and the boy friend should all come to Wanee and get married there...(BTW, is Dad planning on making the trip again this year??) |

And that's the best piece of advice you're gonna get right there.

Benjamin,
Yea, Dad (mash535) is going to be at Wanee this year. He's excited and counting down the days!
I think my bf's mother would KILL me if we were to get married without the families present. Plus, I kind of want the whole wedding ordeal thing.. as much fun as camping is (not!), I think I'd like to have the celebration indoors!

Dad is the same as me... why camp when there's a bed somewhere you can sleep in? I don't understand the sleeping on the ground in the middle of the wilderness thing. That's what the bf wants to do on our honeymoon and he is going to be SO disappointed because it is not going to happen! LOL
Yall should get together again, he had a blast last year! ____________________ ~* jennifer *~

congratulations!
planning my wedding was one of the coolest things i ever did.
my advice is to NOT let it stress you out. i've seen so many brides fall the hell apart thinking its this major task.....but its really not. you just take a piece at a time and go from there. Make it perfect, make it just the way you imagined, and enjoy every second of it!
the worse thing i wasnt prepared for was that i spent days wrapping small vials of bubbles in tule and roses........150 bottles of the damn things........only to get to the reception hall and was told that i couldnt use them (made sense since people might slip).
oh, and look into a friday night type of deal. it will be cheaper, and some people like that they have the extra 'buffer' day to recover.
I also had a civil service just held in the reception hall.......no one had to leave, it was all in the same place.
its safe to say that everyone had a blast (or two) at my wedding..... ____________________ you know there just ain't no telling
