Special thanks again to Scotty for the room hook up. I have come to the conclusion the only way to DO the Beacon right is to BE AT the Beacon Hotel. I won't order Beacon show tickets again without booking a room simultaneously.

Ok, here we go.....we are walking towards Central Park, looking for the John Lennon circle tribute in the park and the Dakota where he lived and ultimately died. Linnie stops us in front of the black iron fence at the Dakota where Lennon met his fate. Heartfelt conversations ensue about Brother John, and how stupid his fate was, taking a picture or two, and we are all looking at the walkway for a minute and taking in this piece of history.

One problem, it was the wrong gate, the wrong street, the wrong building, the wrong everything. The Dakota was one block over. And yet Jason, who is from flippin' Rhode Island and knows his way around NYC, knew that it wasn't the Dakota yet said nothing until a few steps later. Crazy, but polite. But, what'a ya' gonna do, eh? Humerous, to say the least.

All of a sudden we weren't just 'tourists,' we were 'touratistas.' And so, after paying our true respects at Lennon's tribute circle in the park, we kept walking and between Bluedad and I and others, it was ON! We weren't going to let that one go, so we had fun with it. Everywhere we went in Central Park- "Now, over here everyone, is the rock where George Washington gave the Gettysburg Address." "Over here, ok.....everybody look and get your cameras ready, this is where Thomas Jefferson wrote Huckleberry Finn."

Couldn't resist. But, Linnie is the one who got us out and walking of a Saturday morning, as we filled Central Park up with good conversation, and some blood flowing through some hungover brains. Good time.

DH

"Touratistas"? - I think "Tourons" is a more fitting description. Yeah, Linnie chastised us all real good and powerful for gawking at the site that she had identified as the Dakota. I think in a past life, Linnie was probably Columbus's navigator ("Yep, that's India straight ahead there, Christopher."). As tour guides go, Linnie was worth every penny that we paid her.

There's not enough bandwidth on this site for me to list all of the incredible folks that I met this weekend - these in addition to the "good-ol' buds" that I've known for a while. I absent mindedly told Donna that this was the best time that I'd ever had in my life. She said, "you mean besides the honeymoon, the trips to Europe - blah, blah, blah-de-frickin'-blah-blah...". To which I replied, "OH YES! YES! BESIDES THOSE TIMES!!!" "Nice recovery", I said to myself as I wiped the sweat from my brow.

Two shows, Two parties and BB Kings ... but I do think the walk in Central Park was my favorite part of the weekend. It did my heart good to see the pond were Orville and Wilbur Wright invented the aircraft carrier.

If I didn't know Ayla personally, I'd probably crack some joke about "bass players going deeper" or something like that, but since I do, I won't.

Great pics, sis.

I'm going to keep a close eye on the pictures as they roll in. I think I stepped on a guys foot (kind of hard), and I'm hoping I can identify him and apologize.

I saw the same dude taking down some equipment after the Jam for the Cure, dark hair, full beard . . . he may have been taping the jam. Anyone know who that might be? If I saw a picture, I'm sure I'd recognize him instantly.
