No real competition and no decent alternative = lousy customer service and high prices

Ok so I'm inviting the wrath of probably 95% of the membership here, but I had the opportunity of dealing w/ TM alot this yr because I overbought Beacons through the presale and gen'l. It was unclear to me whether the ticket limit applied to the total from both sales(it was). I actually talked to two live TM agents who were professional and helpful. Despite TM's no refund policy, the 2d agent allowed me to cancel the orders that put me over the limit. If he had not, I faced having ALL tix canceled for unwittingly going over the limit. The emails notifying me of tickets being mailed was a nice touch. Now whether they charge too much is another issue, but my service experience was good. I have zero connection to TM, other than being a customer. If the TM service charge is so lucrative, I wonder why no competitor has emerged.

With all the transactions they do, I would hope they can get it right at least once in a while. Glad to hear they took care of you..

Good Point.....my customer service experience has been hit or miss. About 50% of the time I'll run into a very nice CSA who will let me wait on hold if I call within 5 minutes prior to tickets going on sale.....which is a helpful Ticket Master hint for those trying to get the best seats....but then some CSAs hang up and its Redial...Redial...Redial....Redial...

So you've found an angle that allows you an advantage in buying tix. And you complain because some agents won't let you gain such advantage? That is not bad customer service; rather it is good customer service so all purchasers are treated equally. That's the best complaint you have?

no, my biggest complain it the high ticket costs and all of the added charges.
$5 for parking
$6 processing
$8 venue fee
$6 for shipping
$10 for order fee
$25 for ticketmaster CEO profit
ok, i'm beinge extreme, but the extra charges are often $20 or more per ticket.

I know, I know the market obviously supports these prices.

I also don't like the fact the 75% of the time I don't have the option of talking with a helpful ticket agent, i'm put right into a computerized automated system.

This is a little off topic but don't you miss the days of camping out for tickets in the first few rows? Now they often go to the person with the most $$$. Go to ebay or other sites...you too can have great seats for $500.00.

For my $95 base price Beacon tix, I pd a $12.50 convenience fee and a processing fee of $3, split between the 2 tix, $1.50 each. Shipping by US mail is free. So this is about 14%, higher than I would like, but just anther factor to consider in making any purchase decision.

As to do I miss camping out for tix? H*** NO! Before the advent of computers, I would go to a TM outlet, sometimes be first in line, and get just decent tix. Where the best tix go is a mystery, but it was just as bad buying retail. I've had pretty good luck buying online and it takes maybe 10 min versus hours buying retail. Why are you using the phone? (Aside from the Beacon as I understand the 1st 10 rows were phone only). Set up your TM account w/ address, credit card before the onsale time, makes it much quicker to complete the order and I wonder if the system does not favor retuturning customers.

My buddies back in the hills told me they have all these points or something built up from using them(Ticketbastid, no kin to Sang)at shows.

I guess they had enough to get free tickets and wanted free Wanee tickets, but Ticketbastid wouldn't allow it. Even though they used them for their Wanee tickets anyhow???

Maybe other companies will follow suit??? Can you imagine not being able to return that bean bag chair you bought at WalMart in Arkansas at one in New York?

I usually am at my pc....TM acount set up, AND trying to get through on the phone. That's interesting that the first 10 rows are via telephone only, I think that has been my experience. Do you know how tickets are distrubuted during presales? As I understand the first X rows are NOT available during a presale.

Skypup -after my last TM transaction, they gave me one free download at iTunes....how kind of them. So now I guess they are hooked up with Apple.
