I'm something of a Beacon connoisseur. Seen more shows there than I can count. I simply love the venue. I've sat everywhere in the Orch at one time or another and a stint back stage for the bro's. Over the years, many people have told me that the very best sound is in the Loge. So this year, I picked 1 show to Loge it. I've got Row C left center aisle. The bride & I like to dance, boogie, wiggle and occasionally fly and realize that for that show, these items will be sacrificed. I'm not quite sure how I'll be able manage the energy bursts but I'm willing to try. Now then to my question:

Will the sound truly be that outstanding? What else can I expect? Do I have to go downstairs for beer? I realize the bathrooms are the same for everyone. Will I regret Loging it? I'm usually happiest in the 10th row Orch center.

Signed,

A Rookie Loger

I was in the loge for the first show last year... on the center left... close to the door... and an aisle seat... i danced most of night... not a problem..

I'm one of those people that claim the sound is best in Loge. In my 70 or so shows I have attended at the Beacon through the years I have sat everywhere in the theatre. Loge is by far the best sound IMO. I have had very close seats to the stage and it seems to me that because of the speaker placement that if you are too close the best sound seems to blow by you. Once I had front row on Gregg's side of the stage and the sound was garbled and terible. I don't get floor seats anymore unless I'm at least six or so rows back from the stage or farther toward the center. It usually works out well though as when everyone is scrambling to get the close orch seats the great loge seats will just fall in my lap. You do usually have to sacrifice the standing and dancing though. It seems that every year less and less people tolerate people dancing and or standing. When I first started doing the Beacon runs in 93' everyone would pretty much stand for the whole show, even in the balcony. I guess we're all getting a little older. If you are sitting in front of me though, stand up and boogie all you want. I'm not someone to rain on anyone else's joy.

Peace

Pete

PS - Welcome to the board !!!!!

The sides of the loge have standing areas down front. These used to be standing room areas. Back in the late 90's the loge stairs would be packed. I'm glad those days are over but I do like to head over to that standing room section if the mood to flail like a crazy man strikes. I'm not sure if the new regime will make you head back to your seat if you head to this area. I'll probably be sitting most of tomorrow night since I'm taking my wife to her first beacon show and I'd like for her to be able to hear and see the band. Next week, I'll be on the floor with my boys groovin up a storm.

My favorite show in the side standing area of the loge was the black crowes in 2001. A whole bunch of friends just gathered on the side and just had an absolute blast in that area. Even for the Crowes the loge was mostly sitting and looking at us like we were nuts !

I was in orch tonight and it was nice to be a little closer to the stage, but I really missed the Loge.

Sat Loge for the first time last Monday. Row B, Seat 1. BEST sound quality I have ever heard ANYWHERE at any venue. I go to alot of shows. I was completely knocked out by the sound from this spot.

the Loge is my favorite place - overall experience is great - once in awhile you get a little "down in front" stuff - but I do love it! Closer to the ladies room for this chicklet too! I remember when we used to go out the fire escape to smoke butts......would have been nice! Dang! I gotta quit those flippin things!

Hey Dorty Ann , is there a ladies room on the loge floor ? I sort of recall that. Tonite's my wife's first beacon show. I have a feeling it may be a bit overwhelming for her. If she doesn't have to fight through the crowd downstairs for the bathroom, it would be a huge plus .

Nopers - sorry darlin' - she will have to go up to the third floor - but IT IS MUCH easier to beat feet up there, than down down down stairs...........hope she has an awesome time! And yourself as well, me darlin'......
