TODAY MY FERRET, BILLY THE KID, LOST HIS FIGHT WITH HEART DISEASE.

Billy was a big beautiful brown and gold ferret with a black mask and a big heart.
Billy was a joyous creature as ferrets tend to be. He and his cagemate Bonny woke up everyday happy and full of energy, ready for a day of fun. Bonny passed away six months ago of cancer.
These little creatures entertain you, make you laugh at their antics and steal anything they can get their little paws on and hide it. They stole my keys, cell phone, socks, and rings and hid them.
But most of all they stole my heart. Billy is gone now but never forgotten.

Thank you for listening.

My fervent hope for the afterlife is that there is a special part of heaven reserved for the pets of owners who loved them. I hope one day you might be reunited with Billy the Kid. ruthlane. I know one day I expect to once again reach out and pet my precious cat Star, who died in 1995 at the age of 21.

I am so sorry. I had to put my cat Squeaky to sleep in Jan and did not know how I was going to go on. I'm managing and I hope you do too.

Very sorry to hear about this.

I know just how pets can become so important to us. I have a dog that I love like nobodies buisiness. Shes a little Jack Russell Terrier. She sleeps with me every night, wakes up with me, and is waiting for me when I come home from work.

I know how you loved your ferret because its just like how I love my dog. I've never had a pet ferret but I've heard they make great pets.

Hang in there...it'll get better.

On the dog boards I go to people always talk about "The Rainbow Bridge". Here is the story:

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

It is an oldie from dog boards, but I first read it when a very special dog of mine(my first airedale-many mutts before him) had to be put to sleep. They say you only have one dog/pet that affects you that way, but my 3rd (the special was myfirst dale) airedale is competing with my first. So I want to see a herd of my dogs/pets at the bridge. Of course, they'll be allowed to cross, but I may be a problem!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------BTW, the first message board I was ever on(and still am) was a dog(airedale) board. The dog boards are dominated by women, and there are other poems/stories etc., but this one hit my after my'special boy' went.

Ruthie - I'm so sorry that Billy is gone...I know how much you loved him. But as Jack posted, he will be waiting for you on Rainbow Bridge some day (sitting up with his paws held together waiting for his raisin ). I hope you find some peace in the knowledge that Billy was a loved pet and lived a good life having you as his human friend. Thinking of you...
