Don't mean to bring anyone down but this story is important and it just keeps getting worse. I know we have lots of pet lovers here and MY heart goes out to all the sick pets and their owners who are going through this awful mess. I am so thankful nothing has happened to both our dogs since we know they have eaten one of the many brands mentioned - I thionk there are over 50 of them. Obviously we are now taking other measures to assure their good health...

Fortunately, the particular kind of dog food that we use for our doggies was not recalled. Thank God! But I have friends who are effected by this. It's really sad that we as pet owners place our trust in these brands, thinking that our beloved pets are safe...then this happens. The pets are defenseless in this, and they can't tell us when they feel bad. I truly hope that this gets resolved soon, and that if this was done with intent to harm....well....I say hang 'em!

This is terrible! As a pet owner/lover I would be devastated to find my Lola sick and dying because of something I'd done. For many people (raising hand here) pets are a part of the family so this is like finding the Tylenol you've been using to treat a child's cold has been tampered with - sick. I do give Lola IAMS, which is on this list, but she gets kibble not the canned dog food which has been identified as having problems. I contacted my vet for advice as soon as this story started airing.

Agreed. Unfortunately, this is probably the work of one sick individual who needs to be locked away for good. I have four dogs and they are a big part of our family. I only feed them dry food (of which none was tainted this time around, that was in December), but this still freaks me out.

Word I heard was it's the Chinese fault, something to do w/ spraying the wheat w/ a rat poison which is illegal to import in, of course some of the blame probably goes on the company producing who probably tried to save a buck and screwed your pooch (no pun intended).

This whole deal is REALLY pissing me off. My 10 year old cat, who we were feeding tainted cat food to, died on 2/25, the recall thing happened to surface right after that, but I was feeding it to him for awhile. My other cats are fine it seems but they are much younger, and my dogs are fine but they eat the cat food and dog food that was recalled.

I can't even bring myself to tell Abigail about this because the vet said Old Bluey had failing kidneys and there wasn't much that could be done, but he could have had meds to string him along a little while which I was not going to do, neither was I going to let him get the final injection. So we spent a weekend sleeping on the floor with him until he died. I got Abigail a new siamese kitten since, which is why I am not going to the Beacon because I spent my fun fund on a kitten and they are not cheap from a breeder.

PLEASE check that list out and check your pet food so you don't have to go through what others are going through.

Pam, I am sooo sorry for you lose, it is just awful that the commercial food industry cannot be regulated more closely to protect our loved pets

I have always fed my dog an organic based dog food that I get here in NYC. When I first got Bogey, I researched the commercial foods vs organic, natural foods and opted for the organic natural way.

Here is a site where you can see the different companies that put out these organic natural foods which are called "premium foods". They are made by people like you and me that just want whats best for our pets.

http://www.oes.org/page2/1342~Dog_Food_--_Whole_Dog_Journal.html

I have fed Bogey Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul and Merrick. Both of these foods are very good. Both companies provide wet and dry foods. They do not cost that much more than the commercial brands and you know what you are feeding your pet.

I know its a very touchy subject, but if you really want to see what the commercial food industry is all about, just search "commercial foods". That is what I did when I became a pet owner.

My prayers and thoughts are with all the four legged babies out there.

Luckily we feed our dogs only special food from the vet now. We did feed them some IAMS wet food about a year ago and they did get sick.

You just gotta love the companies that outsource to China! 'Save a buck Chuck' - he's our man!

China will rule the world one day.

This behavior does not surprise me. If they can skin cats and dogs alive, why not poisen the wheat they feed to them as well.

.........and Dan, I must agree with you, they will rule the world one day.
