Courtesy of Linnie (thanks for sharing this!) and the GB...Any of you 4/6 ticket holders have any ideas who this could be?

"Haynes notes that one of those guests will help Haynes celebrate his birthday on the night of April 6."

from billboard.com, and cross posted from the listserv:

Haynes Promises Surprises At Allmans' NYC Run
Allman Brothers Band

March 22, 2007, 11:40 AM ET

Wes Orshoski, N.Y.

The Allman Brothers Band returns to New York's Beacon Theatre this week for its annual residency, a stand which guitarist/vocalist Warren Haynes promises will be full of special guests and plenty of "fresh energy."

"We're gonna throw out some songs we haven't played in a while. There's some new covers that have surfaced, some new arrangements of old songs, and some new kind of jam motifs that we stuck as windows into preexisting songs that are gonna open themselves to go wherever we want them to go," he tells Billboard.com.

Fans should expect a litany of diverse guests, ranging from obscure yet top-shelf players to multi-platinum-selling rockers. Haynes notes that one of those guests will help Haynes celebrate his birthday on the night of April 6.

Meanwhile, Haynes and his manager/wife, Stefani Scamardo, have relaunched their Evil Teen Records label with "The Benefit Concert Volume 2," the first in a series of live recordings captured at the annual Christmas Jam, a guest-filled gig in his hometown of Asheville, N.C.

"For us, it's an opportunity to put out some catalog music and some new music that is very close to our hearts," says Haynes, who will on March 28 host a guest-filled concert at New York's Irving Plaza to celebrate the relaunch.

In addition to live Gov't Mule releases and combination CD/DVD versions of the more recent Christmas Jams, Evil Teen plans to release a live recording of One for Woody, the tribute concert for Allen Woody, the former Allman Brothers and Gov't Mule bassist who died in 2000.

Organized just days after his death, and benefiting his daughter, One for Woody featured the Allman Brothers Band, Gov't Mule (with Widespread Panic bassist Dave Schools filling in for Woody), the Black Crowes, Phil Lesh & Friends, Kevn Kinney, Little Milton and others.

"I haven't even listened to any of those tapes since then, so I'm excited to dig into 'em," says Haynes. "There was so much great music that night -- it's gonna be hard to choose the highlights."

Well, we know EC schedule and he has the 7th open. We know that the Mule Team is in town because they're playing at BB Kings. I do agree that Levon HAS to show up at some point. He does have his own shows on Saturdays though, so if he makes it, it will most likely be during the week.

Heck, it could be anyone, but it does make for another thread, so it can't be all bad.

I would bet it will be Leo Nocentelli and/or Cyril Neville. Both are part of the Power Funk Jam at BB King's on April 6 & April 7 with Gov't Mule.

nope, herring will be on the Panic spring tour.

Maybe JohnWott or I can make a concert call to the beacon on the 6th from the DC panic show, so it will be like he was there.....

if Tony Iommi does show up i'll just spit. it would have to happen Friday the 30th.

Isn't Kevin Spacey gonna be at the Brooks-Atkinson Theater for "Moon for the Misbegotten"?

He could do Mack the Knife with the Brothers....or even better, Simple Song of Freedom.

I sorry Benji.

really, i am.

have you looked for singles lately? Wott is DaMAN.

now bear in mind that there is a small chance that i might blow my whole bankroll at the Beacon next weekend, rendering my trip to DC undoable.....but i'm hoping that i can budget tightly enough to avoid such a calamity.....but if i do i'm sure John might be happy to have you next to him.....you probably don't have such sharp and pointy elbows.

Oh dear god, i am so excited. I'm going to the 4/6 and 4/7 shows - if that "special guest" for Warren's birthday on the 6th happened to be EC it would be absolutely unbelievable, but in all honesty I'd probably rather see Levon drop by for a cover of Dixie- i would just **** myself!!!

Clapton is playing in Ohio on the 6th so unless he has an early show and a fast flight to NY...(but good luck on the 7th - his tour will be complete!)

Other than the birthday jam question, if you had the chance to ask Warren a question that he has not been asked before, concerning his life at this exact moment in time, what would it be?????

Thanks

Derek H

Everyone is focusing on the guests part. I am focusing on the "some songs we haven't played in a while" part. We all know a number of classics from the Epic years that have not been played much, if at all, recently. Could we be seeing the return of Nobody Knows, Sailin 'Cross the Devil's Sea" "All Night Train" "True Gravity" or some of these others? That would be so great. And "Mean Woman Blues" would be such a great Warren song to put a rest to the constant WATR and RH.

Doug
