Like I said earlier, official announcement should come Thursday or Friday
For Crossroads II, July 28th Chicago.

Interesting, Clapton has reformed Cream, recruited Derek Trucks and brought back to life
Derek & the Dominoes, now maybe, repeat maybe Blind Faith. WOW!!

Hes having a mid life renaissance, incredible, and about time.

Clapton may take festival to Chicago

By Greg Kot
Published March 20, 2007
A major announcement is expected later this week about Eric Clapton bringing his Crossroads Guitar Festival to a stadium in the Chicago area this summer.

Several sources have confirmed that Clapton has recruited an all-star lineup of guitarists for the festival to raise money for Crossroads Centre Antigua, the addiction treatment and education center the 61-year-old British rock star founded in 1997.
The festival debuted in Dallas in 2004 with a lineup that included Carlos Santana, Joe Walsh, Robert Cray, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Hubert Sumlin and Jimmie Vaughan, among others.

Several of those artists are expected to return this year, joined by a cross-section of blues, country and rock guitar virtuosos.

Among the performers to be announced will be Steve Winwood, several sources say, who will join Clapton for a collaboration on songs recorded by Blind Faith, their short-lived '60s super group.

As a Chicagoan, this is GREAT news.

FWIW, Sonny Landreth has had this info on his website for a couple of weeks so I guess he'll be there.

That is plan.

Clapton has recorded shows for the past 2 tours as well, so we'll see how many DVD's he actually releases.

Should be double DVD for crossroads later in year.

more good news re: the 7/28/2007 Crossroads in Chicago:

According to a news item at a John McLaughlin site in Italy, McLaughlin is scheduled to appear at the Crossroads Festival with Eric Clapton on July 28th, 2007 in Chicago.

Curious to hear where in Chicago this wil be held this...somewhere outside, hopefully (near downtown/lake area would be nice...)!
