My 15 year old daughter, Rachel, brought home her report card for the 3rd nine week grading period. She has six classes. Now, both my girls are really smart and are good students, but this report card greatly exceeded any expectations I might have had. She got -

Five A's and one B.

Why does this excite me so much? Because, when I was in high school, I was such a slacker, that I graduated in the bottom 10% of my class. I only realized that fact after I sent off for my high school transcript when I was considering enrolling in technical school many years ago. I did so bad because I had such a lackadaisical attitude about school. I don't say this boastfully, but I didn't even carry a D average for all four years of high school. That I even graduated is a small miracle. I swore my kids would do better than I did, and I have been adamant in them making their studies a #1 priority. My folks didn't really get on my ass too much about school because I worked full time at night. They asked me if I had any aspirations to go to college. I said no, and that was that. I fully expect my daughters to graduate from college and have that edge when they enter the work force. With this report card, I feel like I am getting through to my girls, despite being somewhat of a hippie/biker kind of dad (whom I'm sure they wish would grow up,) and I am SO PROUD of them.

Congratulations on being a good father, Dave! And congratulations to Rachel for taking care of her school duties so well - she will be glad she devoted the time here in the future! (btw - Rachel is a beauty!)

Thanks Lefty. I'm 99.99999999999999999999% sure she's mine. I like to think she got her looks from her mama and her smarts from her daddy.

She'll probably have to. I doubt Social Security will last long enough for me to draw on it.

RaodDawg,

Good news about Rachel...

My girl pups (Khirston and Adrienne) are making more waves than the old man ever did..and I am a happy daddy...

This is how it should be.

Besides that, they love dTb....

That's the bright side to a rebelious and mis-spent youth ... on OUR part! Teenagers tend to be rebelious themselves, so by setting a "slacker" example, we inspire these teens to become over-achievers. (scratches head) -We just might be smarter than we think we are!

Conrgatulations, Dave!

Oh yeah, your daughter is beautiful! She don't date gray-headed married men by any chance, does she?
