Idaho sounds good. Sure I would like to go to Georgia 'cause of Macon. I've only been to NYC, in 1985 and 2003. In 1985 I heard Mike Stern in some small jazz club and in 2003 I went to the Beacon run. But, why should I go to your State? Please tell me!

Idaho sounds good
Haaward - Idaho is a beautiful state (anyway the parts I've visited). I see you are from Norway - are you planning a trip and if so, when will you be here and for how long? I live in Iowa and you should come to my state if you are driving cross-country on Interstate 80 and need to pass through Iowa and Nebraska on your way to Colorado ( hope you are getting my sarcasm here).

I'm listing just a few of the places I like to visit here in the US and some websites you can use to research further (note - if you do plan on visiting more than a single National Park, look at purchasing the yearly pass that will allow you unlimited access to all Nat'l parks in US - cheaper way to go):

Wyoming/Montana/Idaho areas: Yellowstone and Grand Tetons Nat'l Parks are both breathtaking and right next to each other. And while in Yellowstone you can see geysers (which you probably have in Norway) and buffalo (which you don't have in Norway but may have heard of if you've heard anything about the old American West)
http://www.nps.gov/yell
http://www.nps.gov/grte

California - Big Sur and the Sierra's (Yosemite, King's Canyon, and Sequoia Nat'l Parks) breathtaking! Also love some of the little beach towns.

http://www.yosemite.com/
http://jrabold.net/bigsur/

4 Corners area (this is a point at which the states of Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico meet) - There is a lot you can do within this area. You have the ancient Indian residences of Mesa Verde; Arches and Canyonlands Nat'l Parks; beautiful Monument Valley and Canyon De Chelly (both sacred Indian areas); and the San Juan stretch of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado (if you are in this area take the skyline loop which brings you past the mountain towns of Telluride on west and Ouray on east)
http://www.mesaverde.com/fourcorners.htm

Utah and Arizona - Utah is one of my favorite states - it has some beautiful National Parks like Bryce, Zion, the whole Canyonlands area and Arizona had the magnificent Grand Canyon (note - Glen Canyon and Lake Powell area is along the border between Utah and Arizona so this is a shout out to both of those states.) Note - Utah has a heavy Mormon population so you may want to stock up on alcholic beverages before visiting!
http://www.nps.gov/grca/
http://www.nps.gov/zion
http://www.nps.gov/brca
http://www.nps.gov/glca/index.htm

Chicago - this is a great town to hear some good Chicago Blues. This city also has some excellent museums.
http://www.choosechicago.com/

North Carolina - I like North Carolina because you have the Smoky Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean ... best of 2 worlds! The beaches along the Outer Banks are beautiful - very clean beaches, beautiful ocean.

http://www.outerbanks.org/

New Orleans - This is a great old town. I haven't been down there since Hurricane Katrina but my understanding is that the French Quarter is reopened and ready for visitors. Great historical town, great music venues, great food.

Come to New Jersey=Close to NYC,close to Philadelphia, small mountains, beaches, Pine Barrens ( Meet the Jersey Devil) just don't buy a house cause property taxes are outragious.
I can certainly say good things about Outer Banks in North Carolina. Spent parts of 2 summers 10 miles past where paved roads ends heading towards Virginia- lots of dolphins and wild ponies ( careful where you walk).
Sounds like Nevada has a lot to offer as well
