Five years ago, i stumbled across this website at the encouragement of a friend of mine that was dragging me to the beacon....

Now, the woman that types this out today, five full years later, is irrecognizable to the one that first logged in here, some 20,000 posts ago and five full years.

I ATTRIBUTE just about all the positive changes in my life to this site, and the people that i have found as a result. Not only did i learn that music can be the most freeing thing to my mind and body, i have found many, many, many, many good friends here.

i've fallen in love, i've lost love, i've made friends, i've lost friends, i've gained weight, i've lost weight, i've been pissed off, pissed on, offended, defended, and fended for myself. I've divorced, broken up, broken down, thrown up, thrown down countless people, i've visited half of the US, seen the allman brothers 29 times and countless other bands. I've travelled to places i never expected to be, hung out with people that i never expected to know....

i've made better friends here than i've ever had any other time in my life, and i'm so very grateful. I have found music through this website that has lifted me out of my body and sent me looking down at this person i call "me".

i like to play a game in my head every now and again....Six Degrees of Separation from Duane Allman. You see, just about every good thing that has happened to me has been a result of me finding this place, you people, this music. Most times i can do it in one or two connections. its fun.

This place has truly freed me to be who i really am and i am very grateful. THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH, for enhancing my life in the most positive way.

Thank you all very much and know that i love each and everyone of you! Oh, and YOU - you know that i love you most of all, right?

*muwah*

p.s. i'm NOT GOING AWAY.

Good Post Linnie !!!

For me it's 10 years on this and the old site. I have met a bunch of great folks here. Only been slammed a few times ( for football). Do not agree with folks a bunch but do agree to disagree and roll on. Making my first trip up North to see the ABB next week and am more excited than I was for my first ABB gig in Feb 1972 in Mobile, Al.

Peace to All.

Light.

attribute, atrophy, contribute. what EVER.....

remind me not to do my ten year anniversary post before i've spell checked it, sent it to an editor for grammatical corrections and made it justified. oh, and drank some coffee.

it popped up on my outlook calendar and i figured i'd better do it while i was thinking about it.

me too, she is one hell of a sister and one of the original runners with the band....the stories that girl has....

I'll never forget beacon 2005 when i was holding on for dear life to the newfound sobriety i was testing out....she was infinatly helpful and saved my ass (and my clean time).

since then i've found that complete sobriety wasn't for me, and neither is complete drunkeness.... i guess it turned out that what works for one person just might not work for the next, and Lizzy is one of the ones that stayed by my side regardless of the decision i made. For me that is unconditional love and i'm very grateful to her, and the rest of you that helped me along this journey.

Linnie : I think you're doin' 5 to life honey, no parole. My own 5 year anniversary is coming up - you and I are separated by only about 4 months and 3,000 or so posts.

Congrats Linnie!...and a very nice post to boot!

It's funny because I passed the 5 year mark on this site two months ago and I was going to start a thread about the same thing when I noticed it. I just wanted to see how many people have also been here that long. I also put in a couple of years at the old site too so I go pretty far back with a bunch of us who are stilll here. Its hard to believe its been 5 years at this place - how time flies. It's amazing how BIG the get-togethers and parties at various shows have gotten like The Beacon, Wharfstock etc. I remember walking in to my first Beacon pre-show party about 6 years ago when there were only like 25 people - now its like over 200!
Anyway, Its people like Linnie and countless others that have made coming here so special. There really is no place like home - and to many of us, THIS IS HOME! Peace and Love guys! ...see you soon.
