effie - you are never a burden here, friend! You are more like a ray of light - the kindness you always display in your postings never fails to move me. So always feel free to bring anything you need to share in here and let others help you shoulder things - it helps! Hoping whatever is weighing heavily on your heart and spirit is lifted soon and sending positive thoughts your way.

Hello everyone. I'm a new "contributor" to the Forum and particularly the JHawke Diary, but I've been reading a regular forum visitor for years. Just never got around to posting. Anyway, talked to Effie one day and he recommended that I climb on board and say, Hey!" to everyone out there. It seems I am not alone. I'm a fairly "normal" old timer orginally from the NYC area going all the way back to the Fillmore days.... Been going to the Beacon every year for since the mid ninties. Have very similar tastes, experiences, phobias, fears, joys, fun, bad habits and just about everything else that I regularly read on the forum. Other than the bone shattering that goes on from time to time, everyone seems like a great group. Hope to meet up with some of you on the 6th and 7th. I do have one fear that I want to share now. I fear that security at the Beacon this year, won't let me sneak out to my room at the Beacon Hotel at intermission so I can "stretch my legs" without worrying about someone pissing on my pant leg.

Does anyone else share this unfounded fear of the disgusting, flooded, overcrowded and generally puke encrusted Beacon bathrooms?

Welcome buhda! I am a first time Beacon-goer this year so can't speak to your concerns re: the venue (but know what you mean about bathroom situations at some of these shows where people are way wasted). Will you be attending any of the parties the weekend of 3/30-3/31? Those look to be a lot of fun - come on down and introduce yourself!

Unfortunately for me, this year I can only make the shows on Easter weekend, April 6th and 7th. Normally, I get up every weekend, but after years of thinking about doing it, I finally got off my duff and signed up for a Career Switcher Program (to teach high school) and have most Sat / Sun through July in order to get up to speed for the start of the next school year. The way my daughter has been describing her day to me, the public schools seem a lot worse than when I attended, so I figured what the heck; they were so much fun then, if they're worse now, that's where I want to be! Thank God for Spring Break because that's the only reason I don't have class that weekend! See it's already paying dividends.

We love you, Dad.

Ok, Sue. I'll get right on that as soon as Little Daddy makes his mind up.

OK, Debi bought some of those adult diapers. You guys know how your swimming trunks balloon up when you first get in the water. That is what they look like. She had to buy me size 46 jeans so they would fit. T

Well, I knew you were excited about coming out to Red Rocks, but I guess I didn't know how excited!

I hope today has been better, Effie. Just doing the right thing is so hard when bureaucrats are involved.
Hi Budha2 and welcome. Resident old fart, and sometimes wizard here.
Lolasdeb, Giovanni came out west last year and visited our house, plus we went to a Red Rocks show. He loves live music.

Howdy JHawkers! Dan is on his flight to Okinawa as I write this. We had a great time with him the past week and a half. I sure will miss him! We're thinking of meeting him halfway...in HAWAII, (wooo-hooooo!!) when he gets his first leave.

Wow, Mitzi, that little girl of yours is a sweetie! Looks like she had a great birthday. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Thanks for the posts Eric, especially the acoustic Neil! The few acoustic shows of his I have are among my very favorites.

Wishing the best for all with troubles. Nothing wrong with venting things here, that's what friends are for.

Good to know, Jack. Everyone from the site who knows him says he's a really nice guy. When I found out I'd be flying into Naples to meet my friends and that he worked in Naples I decided to take the bold move and see if he wants to join us for entertainment some night. And he did mention music in his response!!! Hoping he knows of some good local clubs near where we are staying (plus, it's always fun to meet new people and he indicated he wouldn't be able to make the Beacon this year).

Barb - so glad you got to spend some quality time with your son before he left the states. Bless him for helping to watch the backs of us here on US soil! And, like Jack says - great excuse to visit Hawaii!!!s

Right...will check on things around here (LOL - you know, because we get a lot of astronaut products here in the midwest...)
