Sorry about not posting much lately. Debi and I have had some personal problems to deal with. We both really don't know which way is up.

I hope that you guys are doing alright.

Mitzi darlin' I know how hard you've worked on the site. Perhaps there is a "NEW" project to consider...Hmmmm, now there's an idea already!

T, you take care of things and don't worry about lack of posts. We're here and not leaving!

I agree with Ruthie, hugs and green beer to all!

Are any of you JHawkers Irish?I mean aside from today when everybody is Irish. My maternal grandmother was Irish. Her maiden name was Irby and she was born in Alabama in 1896. Her grandfather came over from Ireland Before the American Civil War. My Irish grandmother married a man who was half Indian. Just curious.

Jack, that corned beef sounds might fine. Thanks for the tip.

Everyone is Irish on St Patty's Day!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------
I weighed the 6 corned beefs I cooked yesterday and they shrunk in half, so we went and got 2 more just in case! I have the glaze ready, and phyllis helped me cut all the veggies, so they just need to be dropped in that corned beef water. Phyllis also made a cheese tray with a couple of Irish cheeses (please, no one tell her she is Jewish, LOL), and a dessert tray with green cupcakes and other goodies with chocolate and shamrocks. I have some Guinees 9and other beers) on ice, a jug of Jameson Irish whiskey, and a bottle of Irish Mist. You all be here by 6:30 now, OK?

Hey all! I hate to brag too much, but we're having some beautiful weather here. Nice and sunny around 84 degrees....oh yeah.

Bummed out right now. I had a MySpace fan page for Gregg...well...I was asked to remove it. I worked pretty darned hard on that page, too. Oh well. C'est la vie! Or something like that. I can tell you though that there are a lot of unhappy fans over there right now. LOL!

I'll be checkin' in later.

My actual name is John Thomas Patrick Quinn (Patrick an added confirmation name), and 3 of my 4 grandparents were born in Ireland.

Ruth,my grandmother was born in Dublin(the rest of me is German). My wife is full Irish descent.

Well,we had a St. Patrick's Day we'll never forget.Corned Beef dinner was 15 minutes away when the lights started to flicker. We rent the top(yes,2nd) floor of a private attached house. After a few minutes I went down to check with the landlord, and that's when I smelled the smoke. It was from the attached house.I got my wife and daughter out into the cold and the fire trucks were already pulling up.

As I found out later, there was an underground fire with the Con Ed wires. It was shooting sparks through the parts(I forget the name) that lead into the houses.Apparently the guy next door's electrical was a bit faulty and his basement had a minor fire.As we were standing outside,a house a few doors down had a gas explosion.Luckily, there were no major injuries, but that house had a lot of damage.

I didn't know it at the time, but there was the danger of my whole block exploding house by house.I guess that's why someone counted 32 emergency vehicles.

We had to wait in the cold for 2 1/2 hours waiting for the carbon monoxide levels to go down, but at least in the end everything is all right. We are all OK,My neighbor down the block had extra corned beef, and the only damage to my house is a ripped screen from a fireman yanking a window open.It was a tough day for my daughter who was scared and nervous, but she's sleeping now and will be fine. The only problem for me is I immediately changed the batteries on the smoke and CD alarms and as will happen when new batteries are in,it beeps every few minutes

Hope everyone in JHawke land is well and had a less eventful day than I did.

The dinner was great. The only problem was I made way too much! Everone who came was sent home with leftovers. The corned beef came out great-very juicy and tasty. If you ever cook your own corned beef try the brownsugar/mustard glaze and see if it is not better than any you had before! Usually if the supermarket has any left over corned beef on sale this week, I'll pick up another one or two so that St. Patrick's Day isn't the only time I make it.
