PARKING LOT JAM 3???????? That would be cool. With the amount of people that have been increasing every year, this is sure to be a great time. Is it to early to state a PLJ3 thread?

It's never too early. We started a Red Rocks thread!!!

Poor Kristen. Ouch! Feel better sweetie.

Eileen, nice statement. Was very slippery getting home. Slid down a hill and the steering was left when I wanted right! GAWD, I hate when that happens. I always drive in low gear when it's like this and I'm not one of those idiots that use the brakes too much cause that doesn't help either. Time to move SOUTH!!!

I am listening to music for the first time in 2 weeks thanks to DZ. Thank you Don. First day I have felt like turning on the stereo.

Music used to be such a big part of my life. Just isn't anymore.

I hope this means you are feeling better. I haven't been listening as much in the last year as I did in the past.
Sorry to hear about Kristen's foot.

Early Evenin' all

Miserable day here along the coast of beautiful NJ
Wind, sleet, rain, generally lousy
Well, I didn't think I would have many more fires in the fireplace but I'm heading out to the wood pile soon.
Typical end of winter storm for this part of the country.

Who's gonna be in NYC on the 20th?
Who can I meet from this great thread?

Well, just ordered some take out, I was surprised they said they would deliver.

Hope everyone in this storm stays in and safe

Later folks

Hello JHawkers! Hope all you in the Eastern states are staying safe and WARM ... sounds like you've been hit by some nasty weather (let's get the crappy stuff out of the way so that next week and the 2 that follow are beautiful for spending time in NYC!) It's gotten colder again here in the midwest but it is at least sunny - hope we don't end up getting any more snow this year - the shovel has been retired for 1st part of 2007 at my place!

Tyler and Debi - OUCH! So sorry to hear about Kristin's broken foot! Hope her healing process goes well. Will she have to have a cast (which can be a real hassle for bathing/ showering)? She's lucky to be with you 2 right now. Hopefully things will be looking up for you all.

Bob - Congrats and good work to your daughter! Sounds like you've got quite the scholar on your hands - good for her!!!

Dutch - good seeing you around here. And sounds like you've got the perfect weather for starting a fire - to me cold wet is the best time for a fire! Sorry, but I did have to kind of chuckle at your statement re: getting the daughter ready and out the door. I have news - this will only get worse!!! And I'm speaking from experience! You just need to pray your daughter isn't invaded by drama queen body snatchers - then you WILL be in trouble! Hoping to meet you during GB weekend festivities in NYC!

susea - careful on the roads (I HATE driving on ice...my 4 wheel drive is good in the snow but ice - forget it). This weather should make that Wanee trip even better (as if it needed anything to get better)!

Effie - hope your wife has a safe trip back to you with no interuptions for weather! (and I agree with her - Colorado IS beautiful...some really nice spots around Co.Springs but if she's on business it may be difficult for her to see them).

Jack - HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY!!! (early, I know, but if you're making corned beef and cabbage then you are celebrating)

Mitzi, where is this Vaylorette show taking place??? Anywhere they'll let us! LOL!
Mitzi!!! Girl, when has a Vaylorette let a little thing like lack of permission gotten in the way of the show!! LOL I mean - it just doesn't happen!

Eileen - you stay safe and warm out on the island! Lucky girl - you are to the point of being able to count down days to showtime on ONE hand!

rainy - you stay safe and warm in this crappy weather, too
(and only a couple of weeks ago you were on the beach in Naples!)

Colin - hope you enjoyed your show in that other big city over the pond!

Don - hope you are feeling better. Mitzi is depending on you to come through with the shoeboxes in a couple of weeks - you are going to need your strength!!!

Sang - just read that Yogi's is CLOSED FOR IMPROVEMENTS. (or maybe that was closed - stocking up for Sang???)

Eric - thanks for the great tunage today. Have been enjoying those articles you shared, also!

~waving~ to all who pass here ... have great weekends, don't drink too much green beer, and be safe. Supposed to join some friends on the party bus for the local St.Patty's parade but hmmm... not sure I want to start partying so early in the day (at least not this week)

The cabbage will be in a large padded envelope! Colorado Springs is about 75-90 minutes away, depending on where in Cplorado Springs. It is also much closer to the mountains then Denver is, so Pike's Peak is right out the windows. Southpaw/Tommy Gallagher lives in Manitou Springs just outside of C. Springs and a little way into the mountains. I can guarantee you would not like many of the people there. It is a bastion of the military and also right wing religions and is overwhelmingly conservative. Not like Denver or Boulder at all in that regard.

Jack - HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY!!! (early, I know, but if you're making corned beef and cabbage then you are celebrating)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------
I had started making a big corned beef and cabbage dinner for St. Patty's Day about 10 years ago, but then I started going to the Beacon over this weekend the last 3 years so I was always hearing that my dinner was missed. So, we are back in the swing of it this year. I am currently boiling 6 corned beefs! I'll save the water to cook the veggies tomorrow.
Now a little secret for making the best corned beef around. I was never that fond of corned beef growing up and my dad couldn't stand the smell of cabbage, so it was not a staple in my house. Then about 15 years ago I went to a St. Patrick's Day party and the very Irish hostess was cooking one after another corned beef, and it was by far the best tasting corned beef I ever had. So, I asked her secret and it is very simple. Make a glaze of spicy, coarse grain mustard combined with brown sugar, and when the corned beef is boiled to fork tender remove it from the pot and cover it in the glaze. Bake that in a medium oven for 20-30 minutes-until the glaze gets soaked in. The meat will have turned a nice deep red, and will be the most tender, sweetest corned beef you ever had. I use the flat cut since there is less fat.

Hi all

My daughter's school was open today. They only had a half day anyway, and it's the 2nd day of report cards,so I didn't think they would close.I went for report cards last night.I knew she had slipped a little, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it could have been.No honors this time, but she still had an over 90 average in her majors and a very high 90s in her minors. Now her friend is here so I'm listening to Hannah Montana.

Sounds like you have a smart young lady there, you must be proud.

Thanks.Yes I am proud.Mostly because except for math,it doesn't come natural to her the way it does some kids. She has to work hard and that work ethic is what I'm most proud of when it comes to schoolwork. Also that although she was glad she did better than she thought she would this time, she was disappointed she didn't do what she was capable of.

Eric and Deb,Thanks.

Very true...I did an impressive "dive" off the Hoover Dam last December. Not intentional....those damned stilettos!!

Hey everybody!

Great news about your daughter Up. It's those who work the hardest that get the rewards.

What's this I hear about Yogi's????

Jack, wish I was gonna be there. YUMMO!!!

T and Debi, sorry to hear about Kristen. T...we're here for you, brother. Music....always music. Thanks Eric!

Uh, Deb....you know you just HAVE to get warmed up for the Beacon...so go on and hop the bus!

G'night all!

Well, it took til March 16th, but we got our 1st nor'easter of the winter.LI got a mix of sleet/snow totalling about 6".I'm thinking, E,Susea, and DAF got/are getting worse.
Also, my former employer's ins co decided to disobey the judges ruling and arbitrarily reduce my bennies.Timing could NOT be worse with the Beacon around the corner.Course this all occurs on fri afternoon so that I can't do anything about it til Monday.Hopefully, it will be straightened out.Still, I'm really pi**ed
Waving hello to all JHawkers for a fine weekend...

Eric, I just wing it for those BB King shows. If you got a ticket that's cool and if this ends up being a sell out then there will be plenty of other things to do, that's for sure!!! Also Mitzi has a roll call going in Honeytribe's thread so add yourself to the list!

Don, I think we got about the same here. The problem was all the freezing rain that mixed in with the snow over night. Has made for hard clean up. It's like cement! Yuck!

Morning All

Well, it sure is icy and cold outside this AM
Just got back from chopping the cars loose

Gonna try and get packed and out the door for Philly sometime in the next few hours
I'll be back Monday, I'll give Tut your regards

Be safe all

Deb, hope to see you on the 31st. I have two grown children from a previous marraige and I know exactly what you are talking about concerning my daughters. My oldest put me through hell in high school. She has rejoined the sane folks and we are now closer than ever.

Hey all! I hate to brag too much, but we're having some beautiful weather here. Nice and sunny around 84 degrees....oh yeah.

Bummed out right now. I had a MySpace fan page for Gregg...well...I was asked to remove it. I worked pretty darned hard on that page, too. Oh well. C'est la vie! Or something like that. I can tell you though that there are a lot of unhappy fans over there right now. LOL!

I'll be checkin' in later.
