I wish I had extra room in Alec's car Eric. I did put an email out to the Beacon Hotel to see how many cars I can have park at the garage. Seeing how 4 of us are going together I would hope at least two cars. I'll keep you posted on that. On NYE, Fig and I took the Peterpan busline for I believe $50 round trip. Drops you off at the Port Authority and cab to the Beacon was like $7 or $8 bucks. If I was going alone, that would be the way I would go. Oh BTW, I got the bus out of Logan Express in Framingham.

And like I said before, you can stay with us. I already told Alec Sat night that I have no idea who is stayin' and who is not! LMAO!!! He said well, that's the way it should be!!!

I was looking at that 45 bucks round trip. I may do this. Leave Framingham Fri morning about 9 be there for 1 ish. Leave Sat @ 5:30 give me enough time for the HTN party home by 9

Hey there JHawkers!

quote:
ON a cold morning in 1955, walking to Sunday school, I was drawn to the voice of Little Richard wailing "Tutti Frutti" from the interior of a local boy's makeshift clubhouse. So powerful was the connection that I let go of my mother's hand. Rock 'n' roll. It drew me from my path to a sea of possibilities. It sheltered and shattered me, from the end of childhood through a painful adolescence.

Don't know if there are any other Patti Smith fans here but Hop's Ain't it Strange? by Patti Smith is a pretty good read. I've always loved her use of language - this is a quote from the article that I could relate to (although in 1955 my mom was probably still carrying me to Sunday School)

I there some kind of over-the-counter medication I can be taking for this Beacon fever which is attacking me? I seem to be having a bit of a problem concentrating on ... oh what was it I was doing... oh yeah - WORK!

quote:
There isn't a smiley head big enough
LOL - love this, rainy! Believe this pretty much describes my feelings about being at Beacon finally this year.

Ruthie - love your Midnight Writer tag! Got a chuckle out of the Dr. visit story, too... sounds like you have a fine medical professional on your side - one who knows the healing power of music!

Don, Bob, Colin - thanks for the tips on substanance in NYC. You know one thing I do have on my list is to hit the King Cole Bar in the St. Regis on my way downtown for a Bloody Mary. Have heard that this is where the Bloody Mary was invented and wish to pursue this plus see the Maxfield Parrish mural in bar (love his illustrations). Will they frown at jeans attire?

quote:
I already told Alec Sat night that I have no idea who is stayin' and who is not! LMAO!!! He said well, that's the way it should be!!!
LOL - that is so nice of you, susea!

quote:
Here's the cover...my favorite ABB photo of all time!
Me too, mitzi - fell even more in love with it after learning story behind it !

Eileen - Lola to receive a scruff in your honor tonight - see you in 2 WEEKS +!!!

~waving~ to all you JHawke friends, wherever you may be...

i can always go crash at Lizzy's house, but she is struggling with sobriety and i dont want to derail her in anyway.....i'm sure i'm going to reek of booze and god knows what after the party, the show, and the aftershow party!

also i just committed to the 7th show...i have NO clue how the hell i'm gonna afford it but i'm willing to eat oodles of noodles for the next few weeks i suppose.....

Hey Dutch, yours is another face I find familiar...were you at the sweeties and/or Left Coast party last year?I'm going to a personal record of 4 shows this year:30,31,3,7...I hear ya Linnie...there are a number of things I've had to turn down iin the next few weeks so as to fully enjoy this year's Beacon experience.
Great news E...Got LAFE blasting away.Bro, you got a place to stay that nite? For you snd anyone else, I have plenty of room if anyone needs a place to crash. That goes for the whole run.
After this LAFE, I'm puting on the dvd from'03.Unlike my man Effie, I can't get enough Brothers right now.BTW Ef,what did JW play and how long did he play?
Tyler, I have KU going to the championship game AGAIN this year. They have burned me the last coupla years, so this is the last time. But they did look awesome on Sunday.I also have Texas beating my beloved Tar Heels, but losing to G'town in Final Four.
I'm starting to get so excited, I can't stand it...whooooooo hoooooooooooo
BTW Dutch, the kids are beautiful...
