Eric, the mention of Key West and Sanibel are bringing back some good memories

I went to Key West last year. OMG I could easily live there. We stayed at the Double Tree in Key West, right next to the little airport. Made it seem very carribean

The hotel had a small bus that brought you to the beach and then into town for the night. My wife and I got on the bus to find a buy one get one drink at the Conch Republic.

The bus drops you ten feet from the restaurant. Very dangerous. Then it was on to the Duval Crawl. Try to hit everybar on Duval Street. (Like Bourbon Street In N.O.)

Oh Im missing key west!! What memories these pictures bring. We stayed at 1 Duvall Street when we were in Key West in 4/05. We had the time of our lives. Stayed at the Pier House. That is one party town and I could easily live there as well.

What a great place to live, visit. Its got it all!! How bout that sunset Eric? I'll have to dig out some of my KW pics and post em. I wanna go back sooo bad!!

Eric, did you take the island hopper from Miami or did you drive down?

We actually gave up a better rental car to stay at the Hilton one night. The Hilton is located right on the pier at Mallory Sqaure. Basically that is the place to see the sunset and the pier has a lot of acts that keep you entertained. Watch for pick pockets. But hell yeah the sunsets are fantastic. If you go avoid the Hilton, we spent 500 for one night and got a very crappy room. But the sunset was out of this world.

We landed at 4pm and drove down. Try getting thru Miami @ 5 pm . But we wanted to drive to take US Rte 1 to the end. Kind of cool. We hit a major accident in Marathon which added 45 mins on but hell.

This was crazy (7 mile bridge the old bridge used in the movie True Lies has people camp out and fish and they watch the sunrises in the morning and sunsets at night)

Yes thats exactly where we watched the sunset from a few times. What a great atmosphere, and the sunset just topped it. Next time, book a balcony room at the Pier House, you wont be disappointed. Thats the only place we will stay. You can watch the sunset from your balcony, Duval street is just footsteps away, and they have their own private beach which was awsome. Expensive for sure. Most of the places on that side of the island are, but I thought it was worth it. We had sunset weddings almost every night during our stay right outside our balcony.

Im hoping that next time me and hubby go back, we can renew our vows in the same exact spot. Breathtaking to say the least!!

I have a pic of the sunset right here on my desk. I look at it everyday and it takes me back. Did you try the sloppy joes? Sloppy Joes was one of our favorite places. There was a band there that was incredibly funny. Wish I could remember their name. Was 2 guys strumming guitars playing music and making jokes. They were hilarious. *lol*

Eric - somehow missed your post about the upcoming trips! Sounds excellent! Key West (fo free!!!) Then Sannibal/Ft. Laud/Bradenton - that one sounds like it will really be nice for your family...especially having not seen your uncle in so long (he is going to fall in love with those twins of yours!)

Deb, you must visit the keys!! It is soo laid back, great friendly people, good food, great partying. We are actually thinking about visiting Islamorada which is a couple of hours ride from Miami, but something keeps drawing us back to Key West!!

N1TRW -- love your photos of Key West! It almost feels like being there. Smell that sea air. Wow, two trips! I hope you have a great time.

King, what (other than the castle) are the high points of Carl Junction?

Take care, everyone.

LMAO! You are ornery, Mr. T!

Bob and Eric - what the heck is a meltaway??? I've been looking through that thread and having beach daydreams. Have been further south on eastern coast line (carolinas, georgia, florida) but never up to the cape cod area ... sounds nice...does it get ungodly crowded?

dad2 - checked and the HTN/Left Coast party starts at 2:00 but I'm interested in hearing about any pre-thing that may happen that day. I'll have 2 others with me and believe they have some stuff planned for us that day but we were definitely planning on making it to some of the 3/31 HTN/LC party.

I'm having major surgery 4/10 which is the week after we return from the Beacon show.

Ruthie, somehow I missed this but reading Tyler's posts today made me go back to see. I'll be praying that you have relief from whatever it is and just know that you are loved here!

Eric, you are bringing back so many memories for me about Hog's Breath...the place is the bomb!! Two years ago I took my friend Gail to our place in Naples we decided to go to Key West for 3 days. On a "normal" drive it would take us 4 hrs. Which was the case on the way there. Man, let me tell you Eric, you got off easy if you only had a 45 min wait due to an accident on the two lane 7 mile bridge!!! I got stuck for 4 hrs due to a death. Made it off of there then back on RTE 75 to another death on the highway that was another 3 hrs. All in all it took us 10 hours to get back to Naples! Next time I'll take the Ferry out of Marco Island. Never again to be driven by me unless on motorcycle!!! Which brings me to my plans in October with a friend from Naples. We'll go on his motorcycle to the Fantasy Fest in Key West. This year it's Oct 19-28 and I am telling you it is like NOTHING you have ever experienced!!! Some people are completely nude with their bodies painted and others have some parts painted or wear crazy costumes it is unbelievable to say the least!!! http://www.fantasyfest.net/ Check out the live webcasts!!!
